Job Function:This role supports a broad range of financial and project activities within the Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) division. As part of the Portfolio Governance team, the position is responsible for supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities, performing reporting and variance analysis, and providing financial and delivery oversight for projects and programs. The role serves as a key financial contact within DTS, partnering with stakeholders and Finance to support forecasting, reporting, governance, and informed decision-making.
Job Description:- Provide the full array of project management and control services simultaneously to a large number of capital work projects. These projects will typically involve some or all of the following technology domains: supervisory control and business support software, related computer hardware and telecommunications.
- Provide developmental mentoring, coaching, guidance and training, in such areas as project management practices, processes, procedures, standards, specific safety issues, industry trends and project related technologies.
- Develop departmental project management practices, processes and systems. Evaluate these for efficiency and effectiveness and make recommendations as appropriate. Manage the implementation of recommended improvements, as required. Represent the department and division on initiatives to evolve corporate project management practices, processes and systems.
- Develop and maintain a system of project control tools and processes tailored to the needs of the department and division. Develop user training modules and maintenance documentation.
- Support the Manager with advice and guidance on the status of departmental resource capabilities, as relative to forecast project requirements.
- Support the Manager with auditable evidence of compliance with Corporate, Divisional and Departmental project governance requirements.
- Support the division in the preparation of the business plan, preparation of the budget and analysis of expenditure trends relative to budget.
- Support Project Leaders with the preparation of proposals, estimating, execution plans, scheduling and project cost tracking, change control, issue management, status reporting.
- Support Project Leaders with procurement processes including requisitioning, Request for Proposal preparation, vendor proposal evaluation and vendor performance evaluation.
- Conduct project meetings and report project status and accomplishments.
- Conduct audits and detailed analysis to detect, explain and Pay Scale Group MP4 Points 0274 correct cost anomalies.
- Provide project-related advice and guidance to customers and other internal and external parties, as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as required.
Selection Criteria:- Requires experience with the management of compressed-timeline projects affecting mission critical systems associated with large capital projects.
- Requires experience with labour and material cost estimating, scheduling and project tracking, change control, issue management and status reporting.
- Requires experience with procurement systems including SAP.
- Requires strong organization and coordination skills to effectively support, mentor and coach.
- Requires an understanding of the application of standards, practices and procedures related to the capital project work.
- A period of over 6 years<(>,<)> up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
Education:- Requires knowledge of engineering principles and techniques associated with the design and implementation of computerized systems.
- Requires a knowledge of scheduling, estimating, cost control techniques and business administration related to contract conditions, proposals, contract development and risk management.
- Requires knowledge of business principles including project management techniques related to capital projects.
- Requires a good knowledge of finance and accounting principles in order to implement budget and cost tracking structures.
- Requires good knowledge of English to communicate both orally and in writing, with internal and external personnel and to prepare presentations.This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of University training in the appropriate engineering subjects (Grade XII plus 5 years).
