Job Description

Amgen is now preparing to enter the obesity market. Its lead candidate, MariTide, is in Phase 3 development and has shown competitive weight-loss efficacy, a strong safety profile, and a convenient dosing interval. The Phase 3 MARITIME program is studying MariTide in obesity and overweight and in obesity-related conditions-including type 2 diabetes, heart failure, obstructive sleep apnea, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease-alongside a broader pipeline of oral and injectable, incretin and non-incretin approaches. To move with speed, Amgen has stood up a dedicated organization focused on obesity and related conditions. Headquartered in Thousand Oaks, California, Amgen employs roughly 31,500 people worldwide and reported $36.8 billion in total revenue in 2025.

Senior Program Manager, Direct-to-Patient - MariTide

This role will support the U.S. launch of MariTide, Amgen is building a Direct-to-Patient (DTP) channel that operates alongside traditional access pathways. The model combines digital intake, telehealth-enabled care, and end-to-end fulfillment into a single, integrated experience that routes patients across cash-pay and reimbursed options based on their needs and coverage.

Reporting to the Executive Director, US Direct-to-Patient Lead, the Senior Program Manager drives the execution and launch readiness of this model. Where the Executive Director sets the strategy and operating model, the Senior Program Manager turns that direction into an integrated, well-governed program: Orchestrating the cross-functional build, owning the plan and critical path, and ensuring every workstream and partner is ready for launch. This is a high-visibility role at the center of a fast-moving, highly regulated program where execution directly affects patient conversion, adherence, and long-term franchise growth.

Key Activities and Accountabilities

  • Program Management & Launch Readiness
    • Build and own the integrated DTP launch plan and roadmap spanning intake, telehealth, prescribing, fulfillment, billing, and patient support, with clear milestones, owners, and critical path
    • Manage cross-workstream dependencies, timelines, and resourcing; surface trade-offs early and keep the program tracking to committed launch dates
    • Run launch-readiness and Go/No-Go processes, including readiness criteria, checklists, and end-to-end dry runs
    • Lead risk, issue, and action management (RAID), driving timely escalation and resolution

  • Cross-Functional Orchestration
    • Coordinate execution across Marketing, Value & Access, Medical, Regulatory, Legal, Tax, Operations, and Commercial Data & Analytics (CD&A)
    • Drive decisions through established governance forums; capture and track decisions, actions, and follow-through to closure
    • Produce clear status reporting and executive updates that give leadership a reliable view of progress, risk, and readiness

  • Partner & Vendor Program Management
    • Coordinate onboarding, integration, and testing of telehealth, fulfillment, pharmacy, and platform partners in support of the partner strategy set by the Executive Director
    • Plan and manage UAT and end-to-end testing across the patient journey; track defects to closure
    • Monitor partner readiness and SLA commitments ahead of launch and flag gaps with enough runway to act

  • Operating Cadence & Governance
    • Establish and run the program operating rhythm, including steering committees, workstream syncs, and reporting cadence
    • Maintain the single source of truth for plan, status, decisions, and risks
    • Develop pre-reads and materials that drive efficient, decision-oriented meetings

  • Performance Tracking & Continuous Improvement
    • Partner with CD&A to stand up dashboards and KPIs for conversion, adherence, SLA performance, and channel effectiveness
    • Track performance against plan and support structured testing and optimization
    • Lead retrospectives and capture lessons learned to strengthen readiness for future indications and launch waves
