About the Role

The Hearst Corporate Data Team is seeking a Senior Product Manager, Product Operations & Data Governance to lead the operational execution of our enterprise data product portfolio. Reporting to the VP, Identity Product Development, this role combines ownership of product operations, technical program management, enterprise data governance, and consumer privacy operations to ensure the successful delivery and ongoing operation of Hearst's enterprise data platform.

As the operational leader for the Corporate Data Team, you will establish the product operating model, drive cross-functional execution, manage strategic initiatives, and oversee the governance processes that enable trusted, compliant, and scalable enterprise data products. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Legal, Security, and Hearst's consumer divisions-including Magazines, Newspapers, and Television-to ensure projects remain aligned, governance standards are maintained, and enterprise priorities are successfully delivered.

The ideal candidate combines strong product management and program management experience with a practical understanding of privacy operations, enterprise data governance, and the digital media data ecosystem. This role is hybrid and based in New York City.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drive execution of the Corporate Data Team's product portfolio - planning, scoping, sequencing, dependency and risk management - across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Legal, Security, and the consumer divisions (Newspapers, Magazines, Television).
  • Run the delivery cadence: intake, prioritization, status, and executive reporting; surface risks, blockers, and resourcing impacts early.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Legal, and business stakeholders to manage complex cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution, proactively identifying risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and delivery impacts.
  • Develop and continuously improve product operations processes, governance frameworks, documentation, and reporting that enable predictable, scalable execution across the organization.
  • Own consumer privacy-rights workflows from design through ongoing operation, partnering with Hearst's consumer divisions to operationalize data subject rights, consent management, and privacy preference workflows.
  • Translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable product requirements, operational processes, and engineering deliverables.
  • Lead the enterprise data governance function, role-based access controls, metadata management, data lineage, data retention, provenance, and governance documentation.
  • Coordinate internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful implementation of enterprise data capabilities while balancing competing business priorities and timelines.
  • Gather and prioritize business requirements, develop product specifications, and partner with Engineering to deliver enterprise data capabilities that support identity, governance, privacy, and activation strategies.
Qualifications
  • 6-10 years of experience in Product Management, Product Operations, Technical Program Management, or enterprise technology delivery, preferably within digital media, advertising technology, marketing technology, or enterprise data platforms.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, cross-functional initiatives spanning Product, Engineering, Architecture, Legal, and business stakeholders, with exceptional program management skills including planning, dependency management, risk mitigation, stakeholder communication, and executive reporting.
  • Strong product management experience, including requirements gathering, roadmap planning, prioritization, product specifications, and partnership with engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of consumer privacy operations, including data subject rights (DSARs), consent management, privacy preference management, data retention, and applicable privacy regulations such as CCPA/CPRA, with the ability to translate legal guidance into operational and technical requirements.
  • Experience establishing or operating enterprise data governance programs, including metadata management, access controls, data lineage, governance processes, and operational controls.
  • Proven ability to build scalable operational processes, governance frameworks, documentation, and reporting that improve organizational execution and delivery predictability.
  • Experience coordinating enterprise technology vendors, platform implementations, and third-party data or marketing technology partners.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and drive alignment across multiple business units.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Preferred experience with consent management platforms, CDPs, DMPs, identity resolution platforms, data clean rooms, cloud data platforms (e.g., BigQuery, AWS), and project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.
