Senior Product Manager, Commercial Lending Decisioning & Insights - Canadian and International Commercial Banking

Purpose

The Sr. Product Mgr, Commercial Lending Decisioning & Insights plays a pivotal role executing the strategic vision, scope, and design of lending decisioning for data model platforms for Canadian Commercial Banking (CCB) and International Commercial Banking (ICB). This position is central to collaborating within a governance framework with Risk and Business teams, coordinating model development and standardization across regions, and ensuring the successful delivery of data-driven use cases that enhance operational efficiency and risk management. The Sr. Manager will support stakeholder and vendor relationships and provide expert analysis and reporting that informs executive decision-making and supports the calculation of financial benefits.

Accountabilities:

  • Design and Analytical Thinking: Communicate and drive the overall vision, scope, and design of data model platforms to ensure alignment with business objectives and user needs. Obtain sign-off from business unit stakeholders and coordinate the strategic roadmap for data-driven initiatives
  • Governance Framework: Support and work within the governance structure, collaborating closely with Risk and Business teams for successful implementation of data-driven decision models globally
  • Model Development and Standardization: Coordinate across International and Canadian Commercial Banking business and data teams to align and deliver the end-to-end lifecycle of model development, standardization, and deployment across regions. Ensure that data elements, processes, and model upgrades are harmonized and scalable
  • Delivery of Use Cases and Business Expertise: Support the identification, prioritization, and execution of high-impact use cases. Provide business expertise and feedback to delivery teams, ensuring solutions are actionable, measurable, and add value to clients and stakeholders. Monitor industry trends and translate insights into actionable solutions
  • Backlog Management: Maintain and prioritize a dedicated backlog with partners across Commercial, Data & Analytics and Engineering partners to ensure user experience across client segments that is logical, engaging, and accessible. Engage day to day with the scrum teams, clarifying questions and helping with decision making
  • Implement robust project management methodologies and processes to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring successful project delivery. Escalate critical issues and drive decision-making and accountability by supporting cross-functional executive and senior management forums to align opportunities, challenges and required actions. Report on the progress of (and escalating issues with) recommendations and solutions to consider
  • Stakeholder and Vendor Management: Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business line leaders, risk partners, analytics teams, and technology vendors
  • Financial Benefit Support: Collaborate with finance and analytics teams to support process owners in the calculation and validation of financial benefits arising from data-driven initiatives
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her/their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment

  • Position is both strategy-focused and execution-oriented
  • The incumbent will be involved with cross-functional project/implementation teams and use negotiation/influencing skills to ensure progress and delivery on a timely basis.
  • The incumbent is expected to independently manage his/her/their own time and resolve or escalate any issues promptly. Measurement criteria include achievement of key metrics, project delivery and budgets as determined
  • The environment is fast paced, demanding and will at times require priorities to be re-adjusted to accommodate urgent requests. This requires an individual who possess a high level of flexibility and adaptability.


Education:

  • Business, Engineering, Computer Science degree with related experience in product management and/or product ownership
  • MBA preferred, but not required


Skills/Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in product management owning and delivering digital products/journey end to end, from inception to delivery
  • Strong understanding of the Commercial Banking business lines including credit policies and processes, servicing models and products
  • Full professional proficiency in both English and Spanish is required
  • Strong knowledge on a wide range of current market delivery segments and emerging technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English & Spanish with proven ability to influence stakeholders
  • Previous work experience/success in product development/management, business analysis or in a related field
  • Excellent project delivery skills, with proven accomplishments leading cross-functional projects
  • Strong problem solver with ability to lead the team to push to solution and progress
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty
  • Ability to build trusted relationships, instill confidence and influence stakeholders
  • Skilled at identifying and solving ambiguous problems to drive customer and business value
  • Knowledgeable about multiple functional areas such as Product Management, Agile/Scrum, Engineering, UX/UI Design
  • Engineering, Computer Science or Business degrees considered an asset


Language Requirement:

  • Full professional proficiency in both English and Spanish is required. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with clients, business partners, and stakeholders across multiple regions.
