Full Job Description
Overview

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. This position is an emerging team member on the mortgage lending team. This role partners with a mortgage banker in facilitating mortgage loan transactions for our private bank clients. Utilizing direct client contact, this role ensures all information is gathered from the client and provided to other internal teams (underwriting, mortgage operations or middle office), and acts as a liaison between internal teams and the client to provide the smoothest possible client experience for the mortgage transaction.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Application Submission - Partners with mortgage bankers in submitting clear, complete, and timely applications to the mortgage operations team for initial disclosures and processing. Follows up with clients for required documents needed for underwriting, reviewing all documents received to determine if financial package is sufficient for underwriting review, and self-reliantly decides when loans are ready to submit to underwriting team as financial packages are completed.

Loan Closing - Acts independently and proactively to clear all loan conditions and expedite an approved transaction to closing. This includes following up with the client on any outstanding items needed, working with title companies on any title issues that arise, ensuring the closing appointment is being scheduled by the closing agent and client, steering the transaction internally through closing and funding process, assisting clients with wire requests from internal accounts when needed for borrowers' funds to close, and ensuring a smooth closing process for the client.

Client Communication - Works with limited supervision to proactively communicate with clients in a timely manner regarding the status of their loan applications, coordinating with other relationship team members so as not to duplicate efforts. Client communication may be required on evenings and/or weekends. Communication also includes sending clients documents via DocuSign or the loan origination system.

Pipeline Management and Leadership - Manages a mortgage banker's pipeline of transactions to ensure transactions keep moving through the process to completion. This includes collaborating effectively with other internal colleagues such as the relationship coverage team, mortgage underwriting, and mortgage operations to act as a liaison as needed between groups/functions and the client. Acts in a mortgage banker capacity as back-up when they are on vacation or unavailable. This includes partnering with the relationship coverage team on client calls, advising clients with more simplistic balance sheets and/or financial needs regarding real estate financing options available to them, and providing an overview of the mortgage application process to prospective clients.
