Senior Platform Engineer - AWS Cloud & Security Platform
Lead II - Cloud Infrastructure Services
UST is seeking a highly skilled Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, secure, and operate enterprise-scale cloud platforms on AWS for healthcare applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS infrastructure, CloudTrail audit logging, IAM governance, security observability, compliance monitoring, and cloud security best practices.
The opportunity:
• Design, implement, and manage secure, scalable, and resilient AWS cloud environments.
• Design and manage AWS IAM policies, roles, permissions boundaries, and access governance.
• Ensure protection of healthcare and patient-related data (PHI/PII).
• Develop CI/CD pipelines supporting secure software delivery.
• Configure monitoring solutions using:
o AWS CloudWatch
o AWS Security Hub
o AWS GuardDuty
o AWS Config
o AWS Detective
o SIEM platforms (Splunk, Datadog, Elastic, Sentinel, QRadar, etc.)

What you need:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Security.
• 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience in enterprise and SAAS environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code:
• Terraform
• CloudFormation
• Strong understanding of cloud security architectures and security best practices.
• Experience designing security observability and monitoring solutions.
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements and data protection standards.
• Good to have qualifications:
• AWS Certified Security - Specialty
• Experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and container security
• Experience with SIEM and observability platforms
• Experience supporting HIPAA/HITRUST audited environments
• Knowledge of Zero Trust Security principles

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: Hybrid-Illinois
Compensation Range: $75,000-$113,000

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) program with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
