Full Job Description
We are seeking Senior Paralegals to join our dynamic team supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, DC. This role will work directly with trial attorneys, investigators, and other staff within the Affirmative Litigation Section of the Enforcement and Affirmative Litigation Branch.

The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage complex legal documents and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Location: Washington, DC
Pay Rate: $39.16/hour + $4.27/hour Health & Welfare = $43.43/hour
Duration: 6+ months to 1 year, with potential to extend
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Work Arrangement: Onsite

Responsibilities Include:
  • Conduct factual and legal research using legal and non-legal reference sources and databases.
  • Utilize electronic court filing systems and apply knowledge of local court rules and procedures when preparing and filing legal documents.
  • Review and cite-check briefs and other court filings according to Bluebook standards.
  • Review, process, and prepare litigation documents throughout administrative and judicial proceedings.
  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Provide technical and litigation support to attorneys during depositions, trials, and evidentiary hearings.
  • Prepare and organize pleadings, exhibits, trial notebooks, evidence, and discovery materials.
  • Prepare evidence for discovery production and trial use.
  • Code and index discovery documents using legal case management and eDiscovery systems.
  • Conduct document searches, organize documents, perform first-level document review, and coordinate document production.
  • Retrieve cases and legal reference materials and verify citations and legal references.
  • Establish and maintain legal reference files.
  • Index, summarize, and compile substantive information relating to statutes, legislation, and specific legal subjects.
  • Manage paper and electronic case files, evidence, correspondence, briefs, witness interviews, and other legal materials.
  • Prepare case-status reports summarizing factual and legal backgrounds, complaints, legal issues, and relevant case law.
  • Prepare summaries of witness interviews, depositions, and meetings with counsel.
  • Assist with case closeout and the archiving of evidence and work product.
Job Requirements:
  • Paralegal Certificate, JD, or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year completed, or an equivalent level of legal training, education, or experience.
  • At least 3 years of litigation paralegal or relevant project experience; trial experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of trial-team experience is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Proficiency with legal research platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and legal document/file management systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Relativity, eDiscovery, ESI tools, and document review procedures.
  • Strong proofreading, written and verbal communication, organization, time-management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to consistently produce high-quality work under tight deadlines and high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
