Your Role
If you're an engineer who wants bigger challenges, more technical depth, and a clear runway toward becoming a recognized expert, Thornton Tomasetti is the place where that trajectory happens.

As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer in our Restoration & Renewal Practice, you will independently lead complex building system evaluations, renovation solutions, and mechanical system upgrades. You will mentor staff, guide project technical direction, and contribute to client engagement and proposals.

What You'll Do

  • Lead major mechanical system evaluations and upgrade solutions on complex projects.
  • Prepare technical deliverables, reports, and documentation that communicate clearly with clients and teams.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, consultants and contractors to ensure project success.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team growth and technical excellence.
  • Contribute to proposals, thought leadership, and client-facing opportunities.


What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.
  • 6+ years of mechanical engineering design experience, ideally focused on existing building system evaluation, renovation or adaptive reuse projects.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot complex challenges and develop engineering approaches.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and desire to grow into a technical leader.


Compensation
The rate for this position generally is $115,000 - $160,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
