The Marketing & Communications team at the University of Toronto Scarborough is looking for a dynamic, innovative marketing strategist to join us. Our team is a highly collaborative group of Marketing Communications professionals, driven to find new and creative ways to reach our audiences. The Marketing and Communications Department seeks a dynamic, innovative marketing expert who is proficient in managing integrated omni-channel campaigns across traditional and digital channels, and has demonstrated success in project management, market research, marketing creative, media planning and vendor relationships. Reporting to the Director, Brand Communications, this individual will be responsible for the development, implementation, design and evaluation of marketing plans and strategies to support and promote the office's strategic objectives. Working with internal and external stakeholders, the individual will deliver on integrated marketing plans, ensuring consistency with project timelines and approved strategy plans for integration across all messaging platforms.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player contributing to the success of the department through building positive relationships and acting with curiosity. They will possess excellent project management skills to develop detailed plans, workbacks and presentations, with experience managing the creative development and production processes for marketing and communications materials across a range of media, including print, digital, outdoor, swag, video and animation, and in other applications such as events.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Helping to develop and implement a comprehensive and integrated marketing strategy
  • Developing and implementing marketing plans that support strategic objectives, working with external partners, including media vendors, assessing media plans and trafficking paid campaign creative assets
  • Advising on marketing best practices and brand-building opportunities
  • Analyzing market data to determine trends and effectiveness of plans, monitoring and optimizing performance, ongoing ROI as well as preparing comprehensive post-campaign performance reports
  • Conceptualizing and overseeing the format and set-up of focus groups
  • Overseeing the production of promotional and marketing materials
  • Producing promotional and outreach materials
  • Developing charter, scope and timelines for projects, assessing resources.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, and/or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent and relevant professional experience in strategic paid marketing planning and implementation utilizing multi-channel tactics.
  • Demonstrated effective work experience at an agency or consulting firm.
  • Extensive experience using CRM platforms to design, execute, and optimize targeted multi-channel marketing campaigns, ensuring flawless execution across audience segments.
  • Extensive experience assessing and selecting methods of data collection and analysis and analyzing marketing data to determine trends and effectiveness related to marking gaps and opportunities to inform leadership decisions.
  • Brings strong experience in competitive evaluation and market analysis, translating insights into differentiated positioning and responsive marketing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of marketing and brand management with experience in its application and providing guidance.
  • Brings a solid understanding of AODA standards and inclusive communication principles, integrating accessibility considerations into marketing planning, content development, and execution.
  • Proven track record of enhancing, fostering and managing strong relationships both internal and external to the institution with a natural ability to collaborate with diverse groups.
  • Strong communication skills utilizing strong listening skills and a logical, systematic approach to assimilating and sharing information in all areas.
  • Excellent project management skills
