Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Marketing and Communications Strategist, and working collaboratively with partners across the department, the Digital Media Specialist is an accomplished storyteller with extensive experience creating engaging and compelling video and photographic content that brings the Department of Business Development's diverse operations to life.

The incumbent works with a variety of project partners and internal stakeholders to assess needs and objectives, and then storyboards, coordinates, captures, edits, and packages content into multiple formats for distribution across a range of channels.

The incumbent is detail-oriented, highly organized, and deadline-driven, with the ability to independently manage multiple projects and competing timelines. The Digital Media Specialist thrives in a fast-paced environment and consistently produces high-quality work while adhering to established brand standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing production processes to ensure production objectives are attained
  • Planning and developing pre-production video ideas into outlines, scripts, and story boards
  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing production content and activities
  • Implementing production activities according to plans and schedules
  • Directing faculty, staff, students, and actors during video shoots and/or audio recordings
  • Editing post-production audio and/or visual material
  • Maintaining a repository of digital media records
  • Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance


Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) with a focus in Digital Media, Multimedia, Videography, Broadcasting, or other related field, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience with video production and video editing.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and executing a variety of video productions, preferably in a post-secondary setting.
  • Experience editing video content to align with user specifications with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience advising on audio recording process and techniques.
  • Experience adhering to brand identity guidelines.
  • Experience maintaining a repository of digital content using various tools and platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to foster and maintain effective relationships with instructors, learners and staff and the ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Advanced skills in content management and publishing tools (e.g. OneDrive, SharePoint, Box, MyMedia, YouTube, Vimeo or similar) and in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g. Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Audition, Media Encoder).

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience with livestreaming and virtual event technologies (such as Zoom, YouTube, or similar).
