Description
Position SummaryThe Senior Marine Project Engineer / Project Manager will be responsible for developing, estimating, managing, and delivering marine engineering projects throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
The ideal candidate possesses hands-on experience performing marine engineering work, conducting inspections and field investigations, developing estimates and proposals, and managing projects from pursuit through completion.
This is not a traditional design-only engineering role. We are seeking a professional who understands both marine engineering and marine construction and can help bridge the gap between design, estimating, and execution.
Requirements
ResponsibilitiesProject Development & Estimating- Prepare engineering estimates, fee proposals, scopes of work, and technical submissions.
- Support design-build pursuits and marine construction bids.
- Develop project budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and resource requirements.
- Participate in client presentations, proposal interviews, and business development activities.
- Assist in identifying and pursuing new engineering opportunities.
Engineering & Technical Services- Lead engineering and technical efforts for waterfront and marine infrastructure projects.
- Perform inspections, condition assessments, and field investigations.
- Develop repair, rehabilitation, and replacement recommendations.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, reports, and design documents.
- Coordinate permitting and regulatory requirements where applicable.
Project Management- Manage projects from award through completion.
- Coordinate with field personnel, divers, contractors, subcontractors, and clients.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, and profitability.
- Provide constructability reviews and means-and-methods support.
- Ensure quality control and adherence to company delivery standards.
Division Growth & Leadership- Support the development of Coastal Engineering's Marine Engineering Division.
- Assist in establishing engineering procedures, standards, and best practices.
- Mentor junior engineering staff as the division grows.
- Work closely with executive leadership on strategic planning and growth initiatives.
QualificationsRequired- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, Coastal, Ocean, or Marine Engineering.
- 8+ years of marine engineering, project management, and project delivery experience.
- Experience preparing estimates, proposals, and scopes of work.
- Experience managing engineering projects and client relationships.
- Strong understanding of marine construction methods and constructability.
- Ability to conduct site visits and field investigations.
Preferred- Professional Engineer (PE) License.

Schedule- Primarily Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
- Must be available as needed to support field operations, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional Saturdays.
- Schedule may vary based on project demands, weather conditions, and critical construction activities.
Work Location & Requirements- Location: NY/NJ
- Travel throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region as required.
- Ability to access active marine construction sites, vessels, and waterfront facilities.
