Job DescriptionMS NOW is looking for a Senior Managing Producer who will take on the challenge of leading our operational needs for weekend programs and implementing a robust training, recruitment, and retention program for our team members. This unique role offers the chance to flex your leadership in building, training and retaining a team to win live, breaking and enterprise news on Saturday and Sunday. We are looking for someone who is a strong leader with business and people skills with a portfolio of training and recruiting efforts to support the entire MS NOW organization. Candidates should have experience with show and editorial leadership and a deep interest in newsroom workflows, processes and people management.
Responsibilities:- Primary manager for operational and scheduling needs on MS NOW weekends programs.
- Work closely with the VP, Weekend Programming and MS NOW Executive team on key operational, training, recruitment, and retention efforts.
- Work closely and provide a backup for the VP, Weekend Programming and Executive Managing Producer, Weekend Editorial.
- Maintain a clear, transparent and fair production and on-air schedule system using Workschedule.net.
- Develop and deploy an employee training program supporting MS NOW's news programs with the goal of increasing employee performance and retention at all levels.
- Work with leadership and HR to increase effectiveness in our entry-level recruiting.
Qualifications- Minimum of 8 years of news show leadership in a national cable or broadcast platform
- Passion for driving breaking and live coverage of current events, politics and pop culture
- Strong research skills and news judgment
- Previous experience in training or people management
Desired Qualifications:- Graduate degree or studies in business administration and/or journalism
- Previous experience developing or deploying new workflows or processes inside an existing organization
- Entrepreneurial interest or experience
Additional Job Requirements:- Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news.
Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000, bonus eligible
