Join RBC as a Senior Manager, Software Development in RBC Ops Tech, where you will lead product delivery for multiple applications and drive organizational transformation through strategic software development practices. You will provide technical leadership and expert-level consulting across complex initiatives while managing product teams and stewarding the transition to a product engineering model. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic oversight, positioning you to shape the future of RBC's operational technology landscape.

What Will You Do?
  • Manage multiple product teams, allocating resources, setting priorities, and ensuring successful execution of projects with a focus on quality, efficiency, and innovation
  • Lead end-to-end product delivery across cross-functional areas and related initiatives
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and alignment with RBC and WMT vision(s)
  • Develop and execute strategies for team development, process improvement, and automation
  • Direct teams to address substantially complex software development challenges, applying advanced knowledge and independent judgment
  • Design, develop, and deploy complex software solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices
  • Provide expert-level technical consulting on cross-functional strategic projects, leading complex meetings for technical design, decision-making, and problem-solving
  • Develop detailed plans and accurate estimates for all phases of projects
  • Drive GenAI adoption and best practices in the SDLC as a strategic enabler for team productivity and quality
  • Lead the transition of the current QE team into the product engineering model while managing existing QE resources and maintaining end-to-end quality standards aligned with best practices
  • Initiate and lead opportunities to innovate and make operational improvements within the business area
  • Develop strategic roadmaps to support business strategy, growth plans, and performance optimization
  • Manage resource allocation, escalations, and risks across initiatives
  • Align operations with future WMT strategy and product engineering operating model


What Do You Need to Succeed?

Must-Have Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience) with 8+ years of progressive technology experience
  • 5+ years of managerial experience including talent management (recruitment/selection, performance management, development/coaching, recognition)
  • 10+ years of hands-on professional software development experience with a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions
  • Professional experience on large projects/programs with multiple applications and interfaces in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Proficiency in .Net Core and C# for backend development
  • Strong expertise in building and consuming RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures using Kafka
  • Hands-on experience with Angular for frontend development, including TypeScript and reactive programming
  • Strong knowledge of Git, including branching strategies, code reviews, and conflict resolution
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end)
  • Knowledge of reporting and analytics tools (SAP Business Objects, Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Hands-on experience with AI platforms and ability to create innovative solutions quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of complex initiatives while providing strategic oversight


Nice-to-Have's:
  • Experience working in wealth management or financial services
  • Familiarity with AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code)
  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Knowledge of different design patterns (OO, SOLID principles, event-driven design)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Demonstrated focus on reflecting on processes
