Position Summary
The Senior Pricing Manager is a senior commercial leader responsible for developing and executing advanced pricing strategies that drive revenue growth, margin optimization, and market share expansion across one or more business units. This role serves as a strategic partner to merchants, co-creating category strategies and translating complex data, market dynamics, and customer behavior into actionable pricing decisions.
Combining expertise in analytics, economics, and data science with strong business acumen, the Senior Pricing Manager leads a team and plays a critical role in helping to advance pricing transformation through modern tools, machine learning models, and scalable decision frameworks.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing category pricing strategies, including Reg/Net positioning, KVIs, price ladders, and geographic pricing.
- Translating business objectives (margin, share, acquisition, basket growth) into pricing plans with defined targets and performance metrics.
- Own competitive pricing position and Water Level (WL) strategy, including benchmarking, elasticity-based pricing decisions, and price adjustments.
- Apply advanced analytical methods (machine learning, demand forecasting, price elasticity, optimization) to inform pricing decisions.
- Design, execute, and evaluate pricing experiments (e.g., A/B testing) to measure impact and refine strategies.
- Analyze large datasets using SQL-based tools (e.g., Snowflake) and interpret model outputs, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Partner with Data Science, Product, and Engineering to deploy and scale pricing models and decision tools.
- Own category performance, including margin, price competitiveness, market share, forecast accuracy, and customer acquisition outcomes.
- Identify performance drivers and deliver data-driven recommendations to improve business results.
- Lead implementation of pricing tools, platforms, and process improvements to replace legacy methods.
- Lead and develop a team of pricing professionals, including performance management and capability building.
This role can be done remotely anywhere in the US with preference on comfortability working EST hours.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in pricing, retail merchandising, revenue management, or financial analytics
- Strong understanding of retail pricing dynamics, promotions, and front store category management
- Proven ability to balance margin performance, competitive pricing, and customer value
- Advanced analytical skills; strong proficiency in Excel
- Ability to influence crossfunctional partners and communicate effectively at all levels, including senior leadership
- Prior people management or informal teamlead experience
- Demonstrated experience applying statistical modeling, demand forecasting, price elasticity, and optimization techniques to drive business outcomes.
- Experience working with large datasets, including querying and analyzing data using SQL-based platforms (e.g., Snowflake or equivalent).
- Experience interpreting machine learning or predictive model outputs and applying results to business decisions.
- Demonstrated understanding of experimental design, execution, and evaluation of results (e.g., A/B testing) to measure impact and refine strategies.
- Proven ability to present analytical findings and influence Director- and VP-level stakeholders.
- Experience managing teams, including hiring, performance management, and talent development.
- Experience partnering with Data Science, Product, and Engineering teams to deploy analytical or data-driven solutions.
- Experience using AI or advanced analytics tools in support of data analysis, reporting, or decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- SQL and BI tools
- Experience in drugstore, mass retail, grocery, or convenience retail environments
- Knowledge of price elasticity modeling and optimization
- Prior experience in retail strategy or pricing transformation (consulting experience preferred)
Education
MBA/Advanced Degree or equivalent experience
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$82,940.00 - $182,549.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company92s equity award program.
