Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity? The Senior Manager, Employee Relations Strategy and Programs is a key member of the Employee Relations Governance (ER) team. In this role, you will take your experience in providing advice on employment related matters and apply your subject-matter expertise to address employment risks at scale by working with a broad set of stakeholders, including members of Employee Relations, Human Resources, and other RBC teams.
You will support the planning and development of Employee Relations initiatives and programs to address ER priorities, and serve as a subject-matter expert on enterprise initiatives requiring ER strategy and insights. You will also perform a critical role in developing and maintaining ER knowledge management content to consistently fulfill ER's mandate of providing advice globally, all while taking into account the employee experience.
What will you do? You will provide support in several primary areas within the Employee Relations Governance Team, including:
- Partner with Employee Relations colleagues and senior leaders to identify trends and emerging issues related to the Employee Relations portfolio, including misconduct and employee behaviour, with a view to developing and managing consistent approaches to employment-related issues (e.g., developing corrective action tools and guidance.)
- Plan, execute, and deliver Employee Relations projects to support in addressing HR priorities, balancing regulatory requirements, stakeholder needs and employee experience.
- Work closely with the Employee Relations Director or Senior Director on complex and sensitive matters and enterprise initiatives and projects requiring ER subject matter expertise.
- Develop and manage Employee Relations' knowledge management processes and content, focusing on timely updates to resources and ongoing compliance with global policy and regulatory requirements, as well as best practices.
- Build and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders to advance ER strategic and program priorities.
- Balance multiple short-term and long-term priorities through demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills.
- Foster an open environment within Employee Relations that drives a high-performance culture.
What do you need to succeed? Must-haves: - Minimum 5+ years direct experience in Employee Relations (or equivalent role) and/or Employment Law.
- Post-secondary education (focus in Human Resources, Labour Relations or Employment Law will be prioritized).
- Demonstrated and applied knowledge of Canadian employment law & regulations (both federal & provincial including human rights, accommodation, whistleblowing, and workplace standards / requirements).
- Strong track record of successful and timely delivery on projects and/or initiatives.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, able to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering on commitments.
- Thought leadership, strategic thinking, analytical and problem solving capabilities.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including public speaking, training, and/or leadership communication skills.
- Excellent collaboration capabilities and ability to engage others to work towards a shared vision and common goals.
- Experience establishing and managing relationships with executives and senior level stakeholders.
- Ability to drive change in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances, to handle confidential information and escalate issues when appropriate.
