Amex Digital Labs is seeking a Senior Manager of Digital Product Management to join our digital wallets product team. Lab drives innovation at American Express by originating, incubating, and managing products and platforms that are essential to our customers' digital lives. We are a fast-paced global team that leverages emerging technologies to develop digital payment and financial services products, AI-powered customer service solutions, and engaging membership experiences. We value creativity, customer centricity, and experimentation and often collaborate with top technology companies and strategic partners to bring the next generation of products to market.

This Senior Manager will lead the product strategy for digital wallet experiences, defining new features, shaping the customer journey, and driving innovation in digital payments for users around the world. They will serve as the primary product representative with internal stakeholders and key external strategic partners, acting as the main point of contact for any cross-functional or partner product teams.

Responsibilities

How will you make an impact in this role?
  • Balance customer needs and stakeholder input to define product strategy, prioritize the roadmap, and manage the product backlog to deliver meaningful customer value
  • Drive product execution across engineering, business development, internal stakeholders, and external strategic partners to design, develop, and launch innovative digital wallet capabilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic external partners, serving as the primary product representative for roadmap planning, feature development, and issue resolution
  • Partner across network, merchant, account management, engineering, operations, legal, risk, and compliance teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and best-in-class payment experiences
  • Define and manage product development timelines, navigate complex dependencies, proactively identify risks, and communicate priorities and progress to stakeholders
  • Interpret and apply legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements to develop customer-centric solutions while supporting audit processes and regulatory inquiries as needed
  • Stay current on emerging payment technologies, digital wallet capabilities, competitive offerings, and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and product differentiation
  • Leverage customer feedback, product analytics, market insights, and experimentation to continuously optimize the customer experience and refine product priorities
  • Independently identify opportunities, solve ambiguous product challenges, and drive initiatives forward with minimal direction
  • Collaborate across Amex Digital Labs to foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous product improvement


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • 6+ years of product management experience, with a proven track record of owning and delivering complex digital products from strategy through execution
  • Experience in fintech, financial services, payments, banking, or related industries with a strong understanding of the payments ecosystem
  • Demonstrated experience defining product strategy, prioritizing roadmaps, and successfully bringing customer-facing products to market
  • Experience partnering closely with engineering teams to translate customer and business needs into scalable technical solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own a complex product area, exercise sound judgment, and operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
  • Experience leading large, cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders across multiple organizations without direct authority
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to balance customer needs, business objectives, and technical constraints to deliver exceptional product experiences
  • Analytical mindset with experience leveraging qualitative and quantitative data to make informed product decisions and measure success
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leaders, cross-functional stakeholders, and external partners
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or leading other product managers or product team members
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate competing demands, and drive execution across complex initiatives
  • Bachelor's degree required


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing or managing digital wallet products, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, tokenization, NFC payments, or other mobile payment experiences
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to engage in architectural discussions, API integrations, platform capabilities, and technical tradeoff conversations with engineering teams
  • Experience working with external technology partners or platform providers to define, prioritize, and deliver customer-facing capabilities
  • Experience managing products in regulated environments, balancing customer experience, operational requirements, security, and compliance considerations
  • Experience leading global or multi-market product initiatives
  • Experience using experimentation, customer research, and analytics to validate hypotheses and continuously improve product performance
