Purpose

The Senior Manager, Canadian Wealth Management (Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser and Scotiatrust) Fee Operations is responsible for defining operational strategies and managing to the strategy through the development, execution, and delivery of operational policies and procedures and technology-enabled, innovative solutions. The incumbent is responsible for developing and managing core relationships with Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser and Scotiatrust's internal and external partners and service providers and developing new relationships to support and provide value to the business.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

Develop, execute and maintain operational strategies in order to deliver innovative short, medium and long term solutions for Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser and Scotiatrust.
  • Defining business requirements and managing change processes to achieve those requirements
  • Leading the development of new and re-designed tools and processes to better deliver Fee services. This includes the effective implementation of technology upgrades, new policies and procedures and improved administrative flows
  • Leading key operational projects to drive business growth
  • Developing operational processes, particularly in defining the Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser and Scotiatrust fees operational experience
  • Ensuring that regulatory and compliance issues are being managed and delivered in a proactive and timely manner


Manage effective field implementation of Fee policies and prioritized initiatives by:
  • Developing, implementing and adjudicating policies, creating operational efficiencies, resolving situational problems and providing support to all levels of Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser and Scotiatrust in the efficient operation of the day-to-day business
  • Driving adoption and monitoring the implementation of critical Fee initiatives
  • Providing policy interpretation / clarification and managing exceptions


Align Fee processes and procedures with Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser and Scotiatrust's overall objectives, while leveraging our internal partners to improve the front office experience by:
  • Directing strategic change to the support services offered to continuously improve the field experience
  • Seeking opportunities for growth and cost reduction by exploring operational efficiencies in the business and engaging multiple support areas to carry out the business strategy


Maintain liaison role and effective communications with Head Office departments to drive resolution to business issues in a manner that is aligned to strategy and supports the needs of the field and business.
  • Working closely with Wealth Management Departments, to ensure timely exchange of information on policies, procedures and enhanced tools
  • Working with cross-functional teams to influence the support and delivery of audit findings where applicable


Provide Strong Team Leadership
  • Fostering and developing a strong, positive team environment, driving employee empowerment, innovation and a high degree of engagement
  • Sharing knowledge experience and responsibility with employees in a drive for the highest standards of professionalism and service excellence
  • Ensuring the performance management process is in place, creating performance metrics geared to the business and ensuring employee development is a priority for all employees on the team
  • Regularly scheduling one-on-one coaching with direct reports
  • Identifying and supporting training and developmental needs of team members

  • 5+ years of managerial experience in business and/or operations, investment industry experience preferred
  • Proven experience of leading and successfully delivering/implementing upon large projects
