What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager Culture and Conduct Data and Analytics will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining dashboards, reports, and data pipelines to support data-driven decision-making for identifying sales practices and advisor activities that do not align with the target client experience. You will leverage advanced analytical methodologies to better understand the implications of data, identify trends, anticipate future behaviors, perform pattern matching, and ensure analytical capabilities are deployed effectively. This role requires a strong blend of business intelligence, data engineering, and analytical skills to ensure data is efficiently processed, stored, and visualized. Partner with business and technology teams to proactively adapt methodologies to new risks, emerging technologies, and changes in role or incentive design.

Additionally, this role requires exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to translate complex insights into actionable recommendations, fostering collaboration and trust across stakeholders. A proactive and keen mindset is critical to anticipate evolving business needs, drive continuous improvement in monitoring frameworks, and champion data-driven projects within the organization.

Please Note: The role is based in Toronto and successful applicant must travel 4 days / week to our Toronto Office Location.

What will you do?
  • Responsible for the development, validation, documentation, and delivery of routine Culture & Conduct (C&C) reports to monitor and manage conduct related risks using Tableau.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Teradata SQL, Python, Hadoop, Spark, and AWS to ensure data integrity and efficient processing.
  • Collaborate and develop relationships with cross functional business teams and liaise across various business units to define business requirements.
  • Responsible for automation of data processing and visualization workflows, including the creation, monitoring, and management of new scheduled tasks.
  • Demonstrate the proven ability to detect data integrity issues, perform root cause analysis and communicate the issues to cross functional audiences.
  • Work with other data scientist(s) to support design and development of ML algorithms that support key use cases.
  • Build on the knowledge of subject matter experts (within Retail Banking and across the enterprise) to analyze structured and unstructured data (e.g. advisor activities including client interactions, sales activities and outcomes, banking transactions, etc) and identify patterns consistent with poor practices / strong practices.
  • Support the team's transition to cloud-based data solutions by evaluating and implementing cloud services for scalable and efficient data processing.
  • Oversee Tableau Server administrations, ensuring high availability, performance optimization, security, and governance of dashboards and data sources.
  • Translate complex data into clear insights and present findings to senior management and executives to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Support the enhancement of data infrastructure by collaborating with partners to implement proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives and facilitate the onboarding of new capabilities.
  • Support management and team members with gathering insights for ad hoc requests.
  • Maintain documentation, ensure data security compliance, and promote best practices in BI and data engineering within the organization.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:
  • Demonstrated ETL and data modeling capabilities, and programming experience with large databases/datasets (using tools such as Python and Teradata SQL).
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL.
  • Comfortable working with moderately sized SQL/Python codebases (preferably using Visual Studio Code), debugging and tracing execution of SQL/Python code from end to end, and development practices to enable testability and maintainability.
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in a financial institution with familiarity of Canadian banking products and services
  • Demonstrated data and analytics ability. Awareness of machine learning models. Analytical and problem-solving skills, strong business acumen, and a strategic mindset
  • Ability to articulate the needs of multiple stakeholder groups and shape an approach based on those inputs.
  • Ability to perform complex data analysis on large volumes of data and present findings to stakeholders
  • Advanced proficiency in developing reports using data visualization tools (most notably Tableau).

Nice to have:
  • Familiar with cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS, and data warehousing solutions like Snowflake.
  • Experience working with machine-learning algorithms.
  • Experience with data science and automation platforms such as Dataiku.
  • Experience in big data integration tools, including EDL, Spark/Hadoop, and Trino.
