The Senior Manager, AI Financial Management supports the execution and operationalization of AI FinOps strategy across the enterprise. This role is responsible for delivering financial transparency, cost optimization insights, and reporting for AI-related spend (e.g., infrastructure, models, data, and platforms). The incumbent partners with Technology, Finance, and AI teams to provide actionable analytics, improve cost visibility, and enable informed decision-making, contributing to the scaling of AI capabilities with strong financial discipline and value realization.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
  • Supports the implementation of AI FinOps frameworks, including governance processes, policies, and standards for managing AI-related spend.
  • Develops and maintains cost attribution models, unit economics, and consumption-based reporting to improve transparency of AI investments.
  • Delivers financial analysis and insights on AI cost drivers (e.g., training vs. inference, usage trends, model selection), identifying optimization opportunities.
  • Partners with Technology and AI teams to align financial insights with operational drivers and business outcomes.
  • Supports budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning processes for AI-related investments, incorporating demand signals and cost drivers.
  • Identifies and drives cost optimization initiatives (e.g., resource utilization, workload efficiency, model optimization, vendor usage).
  • Contributes to the development of dashboards and KPIs to track AI spend, performance, and value realization.
  • Ensures adherence to governance, controls, and financial policies related to AI spend and reporting.
  • Supports vendor and cloud cost analysis, benchmarking, and financial tracking.
  • Prepares materials and insights for leadership reporting, including inputs for CFO-level discussions.
  • Promotes adoption of FinOps best practices and cost accountability across stakeholders.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • University degree in finance, business, or a related field (MBA or CPA considered an asset)
  • 5-7 years of experience in financial planning and analysis or related roles, with some leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML cost structures (cloud computing, data pipelines, model training/inference)
  • Experience translating business requirements into well-defined process flows, procedures, decision points, controls, and performance measures.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with execution, ensuring process designs are practical, measurable, and aligned with business outcomes.
  • Experience with FinOps practices or cloud cost management
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Familiarity with tools such as Apptio, Azure/AWS/GCP cost platforms, Databricks is an asset
  • Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical cost drivers into business insights
  • Proven ability to partner across Finance and Technology teams
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment with ambiguity
