Responsibilities

  • Lead daily Accounting operations covering all aspects of financial transactions

Senior Manager, Accounting

The Role

As AArete's Senior Manager, Accounting, you will play a critical role in leading and scaling the Accounting function as the organization continues to grow and evolve. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can balance strategic oversight with a willingness to roll up their sleeves and execute. You will lead the day-to-day Accounting operations, oversee the integrity and timeliness of financial reporting, and develop a high-performing team while strengthening processes, controls and systems to support the business through periods of growth and transformation.

Work You'll Do

  • Lead day-to-day Accounting operations, including accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing and billing, accounts receivable and collections, fixed assets, and general accounting
  • Oversee the general ledger and maintain the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of financial reporting
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring financial information is complete, accurate, and delivered on time
  • Manage daily banking activities and ensure monthly and quarterly bank compliance requirements are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Lead and develop the team, ensuring reporting deadlines are consistently met and appropriate controls and processes in place
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial information for tax filings and partner with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely completion
  • Lead year-end audit preparation and coordination, partnering with external auditors to ensure an efficient and timely audit process
  • Ensure Accounting operations and reporting remain compliant with applicable legal, regulatory, tax, and internal control requirements
  • Partner with the Controller, CFO, and other business leaders to provide financial insights, respond to reporting needs, and support business decision-making
  • Support M&A activities, including Accounting-related due diligence, integration, and implementation efforts

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; experience leading teams strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including financial reporting, budgeting, and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • CPA certification required
  • Public accounting experience required
  • Strong knowledge of revenue recognition principles, including ASC 606
  • Experience working in a private company environment; professional services industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system
  • Applicants must be based in Chicago, IL, and flexible to work from our Chicago office as needed

The estimated base salary range for this position is $125-150k. In addition to this base salary, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. This range is a part of a competitive, total compensation package together with our majority employer-paid benefits and incentive pay for eligible roles. Please note that this range is a guideline, and individual total compensation may vary due to numerous factors, including but not limited to experience level, certifications, and other relevant business considerations.
