Summary/ObjectiveThis role will be a key member of Park Lawn's Legal team. The Senior Legal Counsel will support Park Lawn's operations by managing Park Lawn's mergers and acquisitions work with significant ownership over the process. This position will further support Park Lawn through general corporate work and guidance on various legal topics, including regulatory licensing, compliance advice, contract review and revision, corporate governance, and other legal work as needed by the Legal team. This senior role will involve significant work across all functions at Park Lawn by partnering directly with business leaders.
Essential Functions- Drives the M&A function, working with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Leads transactions from inception to closings and handle legal diligence for deals.
- Negotiates transaction terms in partnership with internal stakeholders and, at times, outside counsel.
- Leads licensing and regulatory components of transactions and operations.
- Research and provide guidance on a variety of legal topics, including self-educating on new or unknown topics.
- Drafts and negotiates a wide variety of commercial contracts.
- Supports the operations team in handling day-to-day non-transactional legal challenges.
- Learns Park Lawn's business at a technical and expert level to ensure best possible legal advice.
- Provides general corporate legal advice and work during slower M&A periods.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure- Bachelor's degree and J.D. bar member in good standing
- Minimum of five (5) years of in-house experience in a similar role for a national or international company or a minimum of ten (10) years of applicable experience with a reputable law firm.
- Experience interpreting state and federal statutes and regulations and analyzing their impact on current policy and business practices.
- Valid state issued driver's license in good standing and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure- Death-care industry experience preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications- Able to read, write and speak English fluently. Bilingual is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
- Ability to negotiate transaction terms in partnership with internal stakeholders and, at times, outside counsel.
