Job Posting Description:This is an onsite role #LI-OnsiteReporting to the Senior Manager, Quality Assurance Laboratory, you will perform various analyses of beverage alcohol products to validate compositional requirements and compliance with applicable regulations. You will apply your analytical expertise and provide support to Quality Assurance functions of the laboratory to ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 standard, and LCBO quality policies. You will have an opportunity to support the continuous improvement, research and innovative projects led by Quality Assurance.
About the RoleAnalytical testing- Perform various analytical testing using specialized instrumentation such as GC-MS, GC-FID, HPLC, LC-MS, ICP-MS, CFA following established SOPs and procedures
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, validate and calibrate analytical instrumentation ensuring optimum performance. Support servicing and upgrades of analytical instrumentation
- Prepare reagents, standards and samples for various chemical analysis and sensory testing
- Assess instrument and analytical methods performance to ensure data validity, integrity, reliability and accuracy
- Process, review, validate, interpret and report results in accordance with the laboratory Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures
- Support various laboratory projects, as assigned
Laboratory Quality Management System- Adhere to the requirements of the laboratory quality management system and drive its continuous improvement
- Support laboratory compliance and accreditation to ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 standards
- Ensure analytical practices, documentation and technical records are aligned with QA policies, QMS and regulatory requirements
- Support various laboratory technical and quality monitoring programs and processes
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and policies
- Provide and support training of laboratory personnel
Laboratory Operations Support- Assist laboratory management as required by providing technical input to analytical testing methodologies, instrumentation and QMS programs and processes
- Maintain laboratory supplies and chemical inventories
- Provide support for general laboratory and administrative tasks as assigned by laboratory management
- Perform other duties and accept additional responsibilities as assigned to support the evolving needs of the department
About youRequired Qualifications- B.Sc. in Chemistry or related scientific fields
- Relevant experience and knowledge in analytical chemistry and applications applied in a regulated laboratory environment using advanced analytical instrumentation.
- Applied relevant expertise with a variety of analytical techniques such as GC-MS, GC-FID, HPLC, LC-MS, ICP-MS, CFA, including sample preparation, extraction, purification/isolation and analysis
- Experience in method development and validation, research activities and statistical analysis
- Advanced expertise in equipment troubleshooting, maintenance and repair, set up,
- validation, calibration and related software
- Understanding of Quality Management Systems in accordance with relevant quality standards and/or regulatory/compliance requirements and their application in laboratory settings
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and statistical process control and computer literacy i.e. knowledge in relevant MS Office software and other data processing applications including tools/software
- Good technical writing and documentation skills.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills with ability to exercise sound judgement and work effectively with minimum direction and supervision
- Demonstrated initiative in self-development to enhance skills and effectively enhance laboratory operations
- Strong attention to detail, complemented by effective organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize competing demands and multi-task effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ensuring timely delivery of results with high quality and accuracy
