Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with AI experience to support significant technical transformation and modernization of core technology infrastructure within a financial services environment. This role will lead and contribute to AI-focused workflows across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), combining strong Java engineering expertise with practical experience using Generative AI and AI-assisted development tools. The ideal candidate will build scalable, highly available systems while helping establish effective AI-assisted engineering practices across development teams.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and modernize large-scale enterprise applications using Java, Spring Framework, microservices, and cloud technologies.
• Build and support highly available applications and web services capable of processing high-volume transactions.
• Apply Generative AI coding assistants across day-to-day SDLC activities, including implementation, refactoring, unit testing, regression support, code reviews, automation, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar technologies while maintaining engineering ownership for code quality and correctness.
• Apply agentic workflows, prompt engineering, custom instructions, and specification-driven development to accelerate software delivery.
• Translate technical design artifacts, including class structures, API contracts, and data models, into structured specifications for AI-assisted implementation.
• Establish and promote team-level practices for effective and responsible AI-assisted software development.
• Develop and deploy AI/ML solutions and integrate Large Language Models into enterprise applications and engineering workflows.
• Support modernization initiatives involving migration from legacy platforms to distributed, cloud-based architectures.
• Design and develop containerized microservices deployed within cloud environments.
• Build and support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.
• Work with databases such as MongoDB, Aerospike, and PostgreSQL.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, and cross-functional teams on architecture, design, development, and modernization initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams.
• Research and document application architecture, production environments, test environments, and technical designs.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience developing large-scale applications using Java, Spring Framework, cloud technologies, and web services.
• Experience developing highly available applications supporting high-volume transactions.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience implementing and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• 6+ years of experience working with containers and cloud-based microservices.
• 6+ years of experience with cloud deployments using CI/CD practices.
• 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), or similar cloud platforms.
• 2+ years of experience working with databases such as MongoDB, Aerospike, and/or PostgreSQL.
• 2+ years of experience supporting IT transformation and system modernization initiatives involving migration from legacy to distributed platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, PaLM, or similar technologies.
• Practical experience using GenAI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code within IDE or CLI-based development workflows.
• Experience applying AI assistance to code generation, refactoring, test generation, code reviews, automation, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Working knowledge of agentic workflows, specification-driven development, custom instructions, and prompt engineering.
• Strong understanding of Java, Spring, microservices, cloud development, and web services.
• Understanding of broker-dealer capabilities and operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with and provide technical leadership to engineering teams.
• Strong execution, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience within the financial services industry.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and QA automation.
• Experience creating architecture diagrams, design documentation, functional specifications, and technical specifications.
• Experience developing automated testing processes.
• Ability to research and document production and testing environments.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile environments.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence.
