Role Overview:Seeking a Senior QA Engineer with expertise in both functional and automation testing. This role involves taking ownership of an AWS-hosted regression framework, focusing on engineering fixes at both the framework and infrastructure levels, rather than just test execution and analysis.
Key Responsibilities: - Design and execute functional test cases, including direct data validation via SQL.
- Build, extend, and refactor the core automation framework across UI, API, and service layers.
- Own and maintain the AWS automation framework, proactively addressing and permanently resolving cloud failure modes such as container restarts, load balancer timeouts, DB connectivity issues, S3/SQS integration problems, IAM/credential expiry, and configuration drift.
- Harden environment provisioning, seeding, teardown processes, and secrets management to ensure test runs consistently start from a known-good baseline.
- Implement resilience within the framework, incorporating features like retry with backoff, health checks, readiness gates, and graceful handling of transient cloud failures.
- Continuously improve the end-to-end AWS regression process by reducing runtime through parallelisation and sharding, driving down flaky tests against measurable targets, and adding failure trend dashboards with automatic artefact capture.
- Analyze logs and stack traces to isolate root causes of failures, classifying them as product defects, script defects, test data issues, environment problems, or timing-related.
- Integrate and maintain test suites within CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with DevOps and Development teams to resolve infrastructure blockers and communicate potential risks.
Required Skills: - 8+ years of comprehensive QA experience covering both functional and automation testing.
- Strong proficiency in Java, with the ability to write and debug complex framework code, not just test scripts.
- Expertise in Selenium, Cucumber/BDD, and solid SQL skills for data validation.
- Proven experience in debugging, fixing, and enhancing automation frameworks specifically within an AWS environment, utilizing services such as EC2/ECS, S3, SQS, RDS, CloudWatch, and IAM.
- Demonstrated track record of measurably reducing regression runtime and improving test stability (flakiness).
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, build automation with Maven, and version control using Git.
- Possess a strong analytical mindset and the ability to work independently to diagnose and resolve intermittent or ambiguous failures.
Qualifications: - 8-10 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance.
