Role overview

We're looking for a proactive, ownership-minded communicator to help shape how CarGurus keeps its employees informed, connected, and inspired. As our Senior Internal Communications Specialist, reporting to the Manager of Internal Communications, you'll own integrated communications programs end-to-end, from strategy through delivery. As you grow into the role, you'll take on increasing ownership of enterprise-wide programs and deeper strategic partnerships across the business.

You're someone who can move between big-picture thinking and sharp writing without missing a beat, equally comfortable supporting a senior leader on a key message and polishing the final draft of a company-wide email. You'll partner closely with People & Talent functions and business leaders across the organization to ensure our internal communications reflect who we are as a company and fuel the alignment, engagement, and culture that make CarGurus a place where people love to work.

  • Contribute to and help shape the internal communications strategy for key business functions, building communications plans that engage the right audiences, in the right way, at the right time
  • Support change management communications for key organizational initiatives - helping employees navigate transitions with clarity, empathy, and confidence, and equipping managers with the information they need to support their teams
  • Help shape and maintain our editorial standards and content strategy, ensuring a consistent voice, tone, and quality bar across all internal communications channels
  • Be a champion for clear, human, and impactful communications across the company

Content & Channels
  • Write, edit, and manage clear, engaging, and consistent employee-facing communications on behalf of a range of stakeholders-bringing the employee perspective into every message
  • Own our manager communications program-including our regular Manager Memo-ensuring people managers across CarGurus have the timely information, resources, and messaging they need to effectively support and communicate with their teams
  • Support the execution of employee-facing events, including Town Halls and other programs that foster connection, alignment, and culture across all levels, departments, and locations
  • Contribute to the improvement of key internal communications platforms and channels, including our communications calendar, intranet, and wiki-proactively identifying opportunities to optimize our approach

Partnerships & Measurement
  • Partner with People & Talent functions and business leaders across the organization to connect internal messaging to company strategy, brand standards, and CarGurus' unique tone, values, and culture - spanning programs like benefits and Open Enrollment, performance and talent cycles, learning and onboarding, and community initiatives
  • Use data, analytics, and employee feedback to measure the effectiveness of our communications, surface insights, and continuously improve our approach
  • Foster two-way communication by creating opportunities for employees to share feedback and feel heard - and bringing that perspective back into everything we build

What you'll bring
  • 5-7 years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or a related field
  • BA in Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred
  • A strong writer with exceptional attention to detail-you can translate complex concepts into clear, human, and impactful communications
  • Proven success building and executing integrated communications programs that support business objectives, from concept to completion
  • Experience in digital content creation, including email newsletters, intranet content, video, blog posts, podcasts, and more
