Position DescriptionPosition Overview:We're looking for a experienced Senior Interagency Project Coordinator in our Street Use division. This position is classified as a Senior Capital Projects Coordinator.
In this role, you'll keep some of our region's most complex infrastructure projects moving forward. You'll be the bridge between SDOT, other City departments, and outside agencies like Sound Transit and the Washington State Department of Transportation. You'll help teams work together, solve problems, and deliver projects that make a real difference for the people of Seattle. This position will report to the Interagency Construction Manager.
Job ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:
- Help lead City efforts related to the design, permitting, and construction of major interagency capital projects
- Develop project plans, scopes, schedules, and budgets for design and construction.
- Review work from consultants and contractors, and lead inspection staff to ensure construction follows approved plans.
- Process contract payments, manage change orders, and complete all project documentation.
- Conduct public outreach at community meetings and prepare briefings on transportation issues for senior leadership and elected officials.
- Coordinate with City staff, external agencies, consultants, and community organizations, building strong working relationships to manage shifting priorities.
- Support our goals for equity, diversity and inclusion in everything we do.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: You must have:- A minimum of four (4) years project or construction management or related experience.
- A Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Urban Planning or related field.
- Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.
OR: A combinations of education and/or training and/or experience, which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class.
You'll be successful in this role if you have:- A thorough comprehension of project management principles.
- Experience in implementing formal project delivery methodology for major capital construction projects.
- A PMI certification, as plus.
- Effectively worked in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:- Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment with hybrid options at this time.
- Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather and hazardous construction sites.
