Senior Geologist, Modeling

Role Overview
Reporting to the Principal Geologist, the Senior Geologist - Modeling will lead geologic modeling, resource estimation and project integration on a variety of Teck projects, primarily supporting Red Dog Operations.
The ideal candidate has field experience in exploration and/or production environments, and experience with governance reporting such as model and 43-101 reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Responsible for performing in-depth exploratory data analysis and advanced 3D geologic modeling of multidisciplinary datasets for resource estimation, exploration targeting, geophysical, geotechnical, geometallurgical and environmental initiatives.
- Responsible for constructing, validating, maintaining and updating resource block models necessary to calculate reserves and resources accurately in collaboration with mine engineers and metallurgists.
- Responsible for Red Dog District resources and reserves with annual resource estimate updates and report documentation.
- Contribute to reporting that satisfies Canadian National Instrument 43-101 requirements.
- Assist with planning and execution of drilling programs in conjunction with Teck Exploration for Red Dog deposits.
- Assist in special projects related to expanding the knowledge and future discovery of Red Dog deposits.
- Assist with database management and annual analytical QAQC process, and model reconciliation process.
- Ensure that all geoscience data used in 3D modelling is fit for purpose and has undergone a rigorous QAQC process, in collaboration with Teck geoscience and modeling subject matter experts.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geologists.
- Provide technical support adhering to industry leading best practices in geoscience data acquisition, validation, analysis, and modeling for Red Dog deposits through collaboration with the wider community of technical professionals across Teck.
- Maintain an understanding of applicable regulatory requirements including NI 43-101, the CIM Standards and Best Practice Guidelines, and bylaws of the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geosciences or Geological Engineering.
- Registered or eligible for professional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) within two years.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant exploration and/or mining experience, including geological 3D modeling and resource estimation.
- Strong understanding of geological modeling, resource estimation techniques, practical application of geostatistics, and international reporting standards (e.g. JORC, NI 43-101, SK-1300).
- Proficiency in 3D geological modeling software such as: Leapfrog, Vulcan, or MinePlan.
- Experience with large, multi-disciplinary datasets.
- Proficiency in geological databases, mapping, and data analysis software preferred (acQuire, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, ioGas, Python, R, etc.)
- Demonstrated technical report writing ability.
- Understanding of project and mine engineering principles, metallurgical and processing techniques, environmental and material stewardship considerations.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and ask for help when needed.
- Willingness to travel to the mine site on a regular basis. Overall travel expectation is 10% to 15% of the time.
Pay Range: CAD $122,000 - $150,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
