Position Title: Senior Fire Protection Engineer

A well-established multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join its Dallas team. This position combines hands-on fire protection design, project leadership, client engagement, and business development, with the opportunity to establish and grow the local fire protection department.
The ideal candidate is an experienced fire protection engineer who brings strong consulting expertise, technical depth, and the confidence to develop client relationships while taking ownership of a growing practice. Salary Range: $125,000-$180,000 / Year, DOE
Responsibilities - Design new fire protection systems and evaluate existing systems for commercial, industrial, and other complex projects
- Perform building and fire code analysis and interpretation to ensure designs meet applicable requirements
- Lead fire suppression, detection, alarm, and mass notification system design using CAD and Revit
- Manage projects from proposal and planning through design, coordination, and successful execution
- Help establish and grow the Dallas fire protection practice while collaborating with engineering teams across multiple offices
- Develop and maintain client relationships through meetings, proposals, conferences, cross-selling, and other business development efforts
- Provide technical guidance, peer reviews, and mentorship as the local team continues to grow
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 6+ years of dedicated fire protection engineering experience, with 8-10+ years strongly preferred
- Fire protection consulting experience working with external clients
- Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, building codes, and fire codes
- Proficiency with CAD and Revit for fire protection design
- Ability and interest in business development, client relationship management, and growing a local practice
- Strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule from the Dallas office and travel approximately 10-20% as needed
Preferred Qualifications - Degree specifically focused on Fire Protection Engineering
- Fire Protection Engineering license or other relevant fire protection credentials
- Existing relationships within the Dallas or broader Texas market
- Experience with ground-up construction, renovations, and code compliance projects
- Previous experience mentoring junior engineers or leading an engineering team
- Experience contributing to proposals, pursuing new business, and developing client relationships
