Position Title: Senior Field & Sales Engineer
About: Ready to build something instead of stepping into an established playbook? We're seeking a Senior Field & Sales Engineer to serve as the technical lead for a brand-new clean energy program supporting local governments and public-sector organizations throughout Southern California. This is a hands-on, customer-facing player-coach role where you'll conduct and oversee facility energy audits, identify and quantify energy-saving opportunities, present recommendations to customers, and help shape the processes, standards, and team that will scale the program. The ideal candidate is a senior energy-efficiency professional who can confidently move from the field to the customer meeting, bringing strong mechanical and energy-audit expertise, credible communication skills, and the leadership instincts to guide future engineers!
Salary: $130,000 - $180,000/ Year DOE
Responsibilities: - Lead and perform ASHRAE Level 1/Level 2 and investment-grade energy audits across municipalities, schools, colleges, tribal organizations, casinos, pools, and other public facilities
- Gather field data, evaluate building and mechanical systems, identify energy conservation opportunities, and quantify projected energy and cost savings
- Focus on opportunities involving pumps, motors, pool mechanical systems, water heating, HVAC, decarbonization, resiliency, and strategic energy management
- Present audit findings and recommendations directly to customers, translating complex technical analysis into clear, consultative solutions
- Lead and coordinate Engineer I/II staff, delegate fieldwork, oversee quality, and remain accountable for project execution and deliverables
- Build audit methodologies, SOPs, workflows, and training processes while helping establish and grow the engineering team
- Partner with senior leadership and internal engineering teams to develop broader customer solutions and guide projects from assessment through next steps
Requirements: - 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in energy efficiency, energy engineering, facility audits, or a closely related field, with stronger experience preferred
- Proven turnkey field energy-audit experience with the ability to independently assess facilities, quantify opportunities, and present recommendations
- Hands-on experience with ASHRAE Level 1/Level 2-type and/or investment-grade energy audits
- Strong technical foundation in building and mechanical energy systems, with experience in pumps, motors, pool systems, water heating, or HVAC highly valued
- Excellent customer-facing communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings, energy savings, and financial value to public-sector clients
- Experience leading engineers, projects, or technical teams with the ability to delegate, coordinate, coach, and drive work forward
- Comfortable with energy modeling, analytical tools, linear regression, CRM/database platforms, and regular travel throughout Southern California
Benefits: - Fully remote work environment
- Meaningful mission-driven work supporting energy efficiency, decarbonization, resiliency, and underserved public-sector communities
- No individual hard-sales quota or pressure to own construction and design-build implementation
- Player-coach leadership opportunity to create processes, shape the program, train engineers, and build a team from the ground up
- Family-focused culture where leaders are hands-on, collaborative, and supportive of employees' personal and family commitments
If you're a technically strong energy engineer who wants to lead from the field, work directly with customers, and help build a high-impact program from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you - apply today!
