Let me tell you about the role

As a Senior Enterprise Technology Engineer, you will play a meaningful role in supporting and continuously improving enterprise technology platforms that underpin bp's Mobility & Convenience retail operations.

This role centers on the configuration, integration, and operational support of various network services. Example network technologies in bp are Fortinet, Aruba, Cisco, Juniper, and Versa.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals and customer needs, enabling scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise network solutions.
What you will deliver
  • Design, implement, and support secure, resilient enterprise network services that enable bp's Fleet Mobility & Convenience retail operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability across retail sites, data centers, and cloud environments.
  • Configure, deploy and evolve zero-trust networking capabilities by integrating network and security controls to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable operation of enterprise connectivity services across global environments.
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, cloud, and operations teams regarding enterprise network standards and roadmaps, ensuring solutions align with bp technology strategy, business priorities, and retail operational needs.
  • Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex network incidents, performing advanced troubleshooting, contributing to root-cause analysis, and supporting corrective actions to restore service and prevent recurrence in production environments.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and standards, including network designs, configurations, mappings, and operational procedures, supporting consistent delivery and long-term platform sustainability.
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)

Core experience and qualifications
  • 10 years plus relevant work experience; preferably with Fortinet, Cisco, and/or Aruba certifications.
  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale (ideally retail) enterprise technology environments.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL/ITSM frameworks.

Enterprise platforms & integration experience
  • Expert level knowledge of network protocols and network infrastructure components (SD-WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
  • Solid experience with Fortinet, Aruba, Zscaler, Cisco and Juniper products.
  • Automation framework knowledge (Ansible, Terraform, or similar).
  • Exposure to scripting (i.e. Python, Shell, or PowerShell) to automate tasks and improve efficiency.

Technology, cloud, and operations
  • Experience working within Microsoft Azure and/or AWS hosted environments in partnership with infrastructure teams.
  • Strong understanding of security, identity, monitoring, and availability practices.
  • Experience supporting production systems, incident investigations, and operational issue resolution.
  • Familiarity with enterprise audit, compliance, and control frameworks relevant to enterprise technology environments.
