About the Role
As a Senior Engineering Technician, you will work closely with the Test Engineering team to build, coordinate, and execute critical testing programs that validate the performance, safety, and reliability of the Lightship product line. Lightship and this role are highly collaborative! You will be working cross-functionally with multiple engineering organizations to work towards our common goal of building the best all electric camping experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and execute a wide range of electrical and mechanical product tests. Testing includes: Safety, performance validation, and reliability tests with development and pre-production level parts and assemblies.
  • Lead in-test reporting of progress, failures, and testing risks to the test engineering team both onsite and remote
  • Collaborate with test and design engineers during post-test root cause analysis to identify failure modes and areas for product improvement
  • Fabricate various mechanical and electrical test fixtures using a range of manufacturing processes
  • Maintain all tools and equipment in the lab and continue to acquire and install new equipment to increase lab capabilities
  • Maintain test assets (test vehicles and test stands) and prepare them for testing, evaluation, and demonstration.
  • Collaborate with test engineers during the test planning phase to ensure feasible and realistic alignment with program goals


Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ yrs experience working as a technician in the automotive/EV, cleantech, or aerospace industries
  • Experience instrumenting test articles with sensors such as accelerometers, thermocouples, and electrical sensors, and working off of a documented test plan
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and measurement devices
  • Experience with welding, shop, and fabrication equipment
  • Demonstrated experience working in and maintaining a lab development environment
  • Experience towing trailers or RVs
  • Experience creating custom wire harnesses and test fixtures with little oversight


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in an automotive test lab
  • Exposure to and proficiency with high voltage safety, power electronics, and electric motors and propulsion systems
  • Working knowledge of automotive and AC electrical systems
  • Experience with soldering and instrumenting circuit boards
  • Experience troubleshooting software and CAN messaging systems
  • Experience generating technical documents for training and test report generation (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.)


Compensation

  • Actual pay rate will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
  • Lightship compensation consists of the stated pay range plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.


$42 - $52 an hour
