Full Job Description

Position Scope

The Field Engineer role will focus on the installation, technical optimization, and troubleshooting of our equipment located within customer facilities. All customer visits require the execution of a detailed report with observations, impact and recommendations. Responsible to schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned equipment installation projects.   Also focused on data generation from field observations, training customer base, developing custom solutions to meet customer needs, and the promotion of our portfolio of our release agent and other consumable products.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Preparing, scheduling, and coordinating of assigned field engineering projects.  Activity will primarily be the inspections, service and installation of industrial bakery equipment within customer facilities located across North America. 

  • Responsible for equipment maintenance, updating, and optimization.  Ensures machinery is operating at desired customer and OEM specifications.

  • Creating detailed inspection reports capturing the condition of the equipment and efficiency of the process with recommendations in an equipment specific format.

  • Interacts with clients to interpret their project requirements and design equipment solution to meet those needs.

  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Service and Engineering teams to deliver solutions to the customer.

  • Communicating with Field Service Supervisor regarding inspection, service and installation activity.  Involved in all aspects of the planning and installation of the equipment into the end user facility.

  • Ensure installed equipment is compliant with standards, codes, policies, practices, and specifications.  These include regulatory and international guidelines, as well as those of the customer.

  • Offers off-site technical support to customers. 

  • To carry out all activities in a safe and professional manner following Company procedures to ensure that all work is properly done and documented.

  • Collaborate with Account Align Team Leader and other members of the team to ensure alignment on priorities.

  • Build and develop new and existing accounts and manage sales opportunities in sync with business and account strategies.

The Ideal Candidate

Desired Background

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Technical Sciences, or a related discipline desired.  Mechanical Engineering Degree strongly preferred.  Equivalent experience in lieu of degree accepted.  3+ years of experience in field engineering, project management, field operations, or equipment integration.

Knowledge, Skills & Talents

More specifically, we would seek the following attributes and competencies for the position: 

  • Full time position working 5 days per week. Some weekend travel required.

  • Flexible schedule available.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with direct, hands on applications.

  • Experience reading electrical schematics and CAD diagrams.

  • Required experience using hand tools and performing electrical wiring in the field.

  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 60 pounds and ability to stand on your feet for 8+ hours.

  • Advanced skill in MS Office Suite of tools.  Comfortable with data tracking, document preparation, and technical report writing.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.  Travel 50% - 60% of the time.

  • Must have good verbal communication skills and be able to write technical reports or documents for internal and external use.

  • Good interpersonal skills are needed as the person interfaces substantially within the business and customer base.

  • Ability to diagnose electrical and automation problems within equipment.  Able to determine and implement solutions.  

  • Familiarity with PLCs and HMIs, including basic programming, diagnostics, and troubleshooting, is preferred.

  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions with minimal supervision, while also collaborating effectively as part of a cross‑functional team.

Pay

The estimated base pay range for this position is:  $80,000 - $95,000 annually.  Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, qualifications, skills and geographic location.  This position is eligible to participate in a short-term incentive program.
