Full Job Description
Impact
As a Senior Engineer on the Order Management team at Shipt, you will drive the design and build of systems powering our core operations. You will engage in hands-on development for the most complex tasks, ensuring that all solutions are production-ready, scalable, resilient, and meet high-performance standards. You will bridge deep technical knowledge with business impact, acting as a "T-Shaped" engineer who collaborates across product teams and business partners to align architecture with strategic goals.

You will serve as a primary contact point for your team, mentoring Engineers and Associate Engineers to improve code quality and technical depth. Every day, you will work within a micro-services architecture using Golang, Postgres, Redis, and Kafka. Your role involves influencing product direction to increase business impact while ensuring that the quality of the team's code and infrastructure consistently meets Shipt's standards.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful
  • 5+ years of software development experience building large, scalable micro-service applications in the cloud.

  • Experience providing technical mentorship and code reviews with a focus on testability, readability, and appropriate software design patterns.

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems deeply to devise solutions for the root cause and resolve production issues across team domains.

  • Skillful in architectural design, anticipating future use cases to minimize long-term costs and maximize system resiliency.

  • Active in identifying and correcting missing documentation or recommending changes to internal processes when deficiencies are observed.

  • Strong security lens: ability to identify vulnerabilities in code/infrastructure and advocate for swift resolution.

  • Experience defining and monitoring service-level indicators (SLIs) and objectives (SLOs) to ensure product reliability and rapid recovery.

  • Demonstrated experience actively contributing to and influencing technical roadmaps, balancing short-term feature delivery with long-term architectural scalability.

  • Aptitude for using data-driven metrics and automated testing patterns to proactively improve code quality and system performance.

AI/LLM Familiarity:
  • Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) and ensuring secure interaction with backend services.

  • Familiarity with orchestration frameworks such as Google’s ADK, Vercel AI SDK, or custom solutions.

  • Experience implementing and integrating coding assistant tools to enhance developer productivity.

  • Experience designing and deploying agentic workflows that automate multi-step processes or autonomous decision-making.
