In this role you will have the opportunity to manage the design, development and qualification of new programs while conforming to customer requirements (quality), and delivering them on time and within budget. You will be expected to engage and direct the activities of a cross-functional team of technical professionals including Design Engineers, Designer/Draftsmen, Technical Writers, Configuration Control Specialists, and Staff Scientists as necessary to provide technical direction, project management, and leadership for your assigned programs. You will also be expected to work closely with sales, program management, operations, scientific laboratory services, and external suppliers, providing leadership as necessary to ensure the success of your assigned programs.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Lead cross functional teams, generate, and check mechanical designs for fluid-system products that meet customer specifications and provide safe, reliable, robust, manufacturable, serviceable, and maintainable solutions.
- Drives continuous improvement and VAVE initiatives. Ensures that improvements have a strategic impact on time and cost optimization.
- Identification of new technologies and processes wherever possible, which reduces costs and increases efficiency.
- Participate and lead troubleshooting and problem-solving activities with customers and suppliers on product technical issues.
- Develop advanced products and processes, applying deep understanding of scientific and engineering principles. Actively coaches and mentors a team of engineers, fostering their development and growth.
The essential requirements of the job include:- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline and 8 years of experience in mechanical design engineering for aerospace fluid-system products, pressure-containing components, manifolds, housings, aerospace hardware, or comparable engineered products.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, specification of materials and components for fluid systems and integration of multiple manufacturing processes into complex designs and oversees their implementation.
- Ability to lead substantial design projects and apply sound judgment to fluid routing, pressure drop, flow distribution, material selection, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Experience leading projects and tasks with other engineers. Experience leading initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes based on comprehensive knowledge. Participate in and lead technical meetings with other groups at Pall as well as customers and suppliers.
- An understanding of international drawings (BS8888 / ANSI Y14.5 or equivalent global standard) Tolerancing, GD&T, fits & interfaces
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: - Ability to travel independently to customer sites, supplier locations, manufacturing facilities, test sites, and other company locations, and may include domestic and occasional international travel, depending on program needs. Estimated travel requirement may range from 10%-25%, or more during critical project phases, if applicable.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must maintain a motor vehicle record that meets company standards for insurability when operating a company, rental, or personal vehicle for business use.
- Ability to work in both office and engineering, production/manufacturing/lab/testing environments. Ability to use standard personal protective equipment when required, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, or other site-specific PPE. May be exposed to manufacturing, lab, or test environments with noise, moving equipment, chemicals, temperature variation, or other controlled workplace hazards.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, use a computer, review technical drawings, and communicate effectively for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift or move lightweight parts, drawings, test equipment, or materials, typically up to 25 pounds, if applicable.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:- Master's degree or equivalent advanced technical experience.
- Experience with filtration products.
