Overview

i3 is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support Army Aviation systems integration, interoperability testing, and cybersecurity activities at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

This position supports secure laboratory and test environments used to integrate and evaluate aviation and other Army systems. The engineer will maintain network and computing infrastructure, support system integration and interoperability testing, and support cybersecurity activities necessary to maintain system Authorization to Operate (ATO). The position will also support modernization of the test environment through virtualization, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.

 

This position is on-site at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Candidates must possess an active SECRET security clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot secure network, server, virtualization, and computing infrastructure supporting laboratory and test environments.
  • Support integration and interoperability testing of Army Aviation, C5ISR, tactical communications, and other systems.
  • Support RMF/ATO and continuous-monitoring activities, including vulnerability management, STIG compliance, patching, POA&M management, and cybersecurity documentation.
  • Maintain network architecture, configuration baselines, system documentation, diagrams, inventories, and technical procedures.
  • Develop and maintain scripts, configuration-management solutions, and other automation to improve system administration, cybersecurity, and test activities.
  • Support virtualization, Infrastructure as Code, automated environment provisioning, and other DevSecOps practices supporting repeatable interoperability testing.
  • Coordinate technical activities with government customers, cybersecurity personnel, engineering teams, vendors, and other integration partners.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience in network engineering, systems administration, cybersecurity, systems integration, or related technical disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, routing, switching, VLANs, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience administering Windows and Linux systems and virtualization technologies such as VMware, Proxmox, KVM, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience supporting DoD cybersecurity activities, including RMF, vulnerability management, DISA STIGs, system hardening, and configuration management.
  • Experience with network and cybersecurity tools such as Wireshark, ACAS/Nessus, Evaluate-STIG, Splunk, or comparable products.
  • Experience with scripting or automation technologies such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, or comparable tools.
  • Active Secret security clearance required. U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must possess the DoD cybersecurity certification required for the assigned work role and privileged access, such as DoD IAT Level II (Intermediate) i.e. COMPTia Sec+.
Preferred:
  • CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, SecurityX/CASP+, or other relevant network or cybersecurity certification.
  • Experience supporting Army or DoD systems-integration laboratories, Software Integration Laboratories (SILs), or interoperability-test environments.
  • Experience maintaining an ATO using eMASS, ACAS, STIGs, and POA&M processes.
  • Familiarity with Army Aviation, tactical networks, C5ISR systems, or military data standards such as VMF, USMTF, or Link 16.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, containers, automated test environments, or cloud-based DevSecOps.
  • Experience with COMSEC, CCI, or tactical communications equipment.
