What you'll be doing

As Senior Director, NBFI & Private Credit within CIBC’s Risk Management group, you’ll play a pivotal role in overseeing counterparty credit risk (CCR) for Non-bank Financial Institutions (NBFI), Asset Securitization, and Private Credit lending. You’ll lead the management and adjudication of trading, financing, and lending facilities for a diverse set of counterparties, including private credit funds, banks, sovereigns, hedge funds, pensions, insurance companies, and central clearing counterparties (CCPs). Your expertise will help shape and implement strategies, policies, and procedures that maintain high credit quality standards across global portfolios spanning Canada, the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific. You’ll partner closely with senior business leaders, Global Markets, Corporate and Commercial Banking teams, and external regulators to ensure effective risk oversight and support CIBC’s commitment to prudent risk management.

How you'll succeed

  • Counterparty Credit Risk Oversight –Liaise the management and adjudication of counterparty credit risk ensuring effective identification, measurement, and monitoring in line with CIBC’s risk policies and standards within your designated portfolio.

  • Policy Development & Implementation –Participate in the development, recommend, and implement sound credit policies and practices for NBFI and private credit portfolios, shaping strategies that reflect CIBC’s risk appetite and business objectives.

  • Portfolio Management & Decision Making – Exercise delegated approval authority for credit facilities and transactions, provide recommendations for accounts beyond your authority, and deliver informed direction to senior credit risk managers.

  • Industry Expertise & Client Engagement – Stay current with industry trends and participate in external activities, including client meetings and industry forums, to maintain deep knowledge and credibility with clients and stakeholders.

  • Strategic Business Partnership – Work collaboratively with business heads and risk management executives to establish performance metrics, inform business strategies, and support the achievement of financial and risk management goals.
