Job Summary
Trusted product data is foundational to Caterpillar's Prime and Parts digital experiences, Cat.com, Shop.cat.com, Parts.cat.com, dealer eSites, and beyond. The Product Data Steward brings a data science and analytics lens to product data quality across both domains: profiling, scoring, and modeling Prime and Parts attribute data at scale, and using statistical and automated methods, not manual review, to find and resolve the exceptions that matter most.
What You Will Do
- Build and maintain statistical data quality scorecards for Prime product attributes, tracking completeness, consistency, and accuracy over time
- Use SQL and Python to profile Prime product data, identify anomalies, and quantify the business impact of data quality issues
- Design dashboards and visualizations that surface Prime data health trends to engineering and business stakeholders
- Apply automated rules and statistical models to triage data quality exceptions, replacing manual review with scalable detection
- Partner with Data Quality Engineering to build reusable profiling and reconciliation logic that can extend across other product domains
- Define and continuously refine content standards and business rules for Prime product data based on data-driven analysis
- Support enrichment and migration validation for Prime by measuring data readiness quantitatively rather than by spot-check
- Communicate data quality findings and trends clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
Agile Development: Knowledge of agile methodologies and the agile development lifecycle; ability to utilize formal agile methodologies, disciplines, practices and techniques for the delivery of new and enhanced applications.
Cloud Computing: Knowledge of cloud-based solutions and their applications; ability to design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions to meet business needs and improve operational efficiency.
Database Design (Physical): Knowledge of database systems; ability to establish a data model for designing an organization's database that runs effectively and efficiently for better business outcome.
Modeling: Data, Process, Events, Objects: Knowledge of data, process and events; ability to use tools and techniques for analyzing and documenting logical relationships among data, processes or events.
Consideration for Top Candidates
- Experience in data quality engineering, data analytics, or a related data science discipline
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data profiling, statistical analysis, and automation
- Experience building dashboards or scorecards (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Familiarity with PIM/MDM platforms such as Akeneo; experience with product data a plus
- Practical experience applying statistical or machine learning techniques to data quality or anomaly detection
- Bachelor's in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field or equivalant working experience
- Proficiency with AI-assisted analytics tooling (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) preferredorts to recap current findings and issues in data, processes or event models.
Other Key Skills:
- Data Analysis: Knowledge of data profiling, statistical analysis, and quality scoring methods; ability to translate findings into clear, prioritized action.
- Data Governance: Knowledge of data governance and content standards; ability to define and enforce them using measurable, repeatable criteria.
- Product Domain Knowledge: Working knowledge of the Prime product domain; ability to apply that context to data quality analysis.
- Data Visualization: Knowledge of dashboarding and reporting tools; ability to turn data quality metrics into decision-ready visuals.
- Automation Mindset: Ability to identify manual review processes that can be replaced with automated, statistically grounded checks.

Summary Pay Range:
$108,318.00 - $169,060.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
