Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Database Migration Specialist with extensive hands-on experience in database administration, migration, and cloud transformation initiatives, with particular expertise in AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS). The role will lead and execute end-to-end database migration activities in collaboration with the AWS Platform team, including migrating databases from on-premises and Azure SQL environments to AWS RDS. The ideal candidate will have strong experience assessing existing database environments, designing migration strategies, executing large-scale migrations, ensuring data integrity, minimizing downtime, and supporting modern cloud-based database environments.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and execute end-to-end database migration activities using AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS).
• Collaborate with the AWS Platform team to plan and execute database migration initiatives.
• Migrate databases from on-premises environments and Azure SQL to AWS RDS.
• Assess existing database environments and identify migration requirements, dependencies, risks, and constraints.
• Design database migration strategies aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Configure and manage AWS DMS migration and data synchronization activities.
• Execute large-scale database migrations while maintaining data integrity and minimizing downtime.
• Validate migrated databases and ensure data consistency between source and target environments.
• Troubleshoot migration issues and resolve data synchronization, connectivity, and performance problems.
• Support cloud-based database modernization and transformation initiatives.
• Develop migration plans, implementation procedures, validation approaches, and rollback strategies.
• Coordinate migration activities across database, cloud, application, and infrastructure teams.
• Monitor migration activities and proactively address risks or issues that could impact timelines or business operations.
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations for database modernization and migration best practices.

Required Qualifications
• 15+ years of experience in Database Administration, Database Migration, and Cloud Transformation projects.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS).
• Strong experience with AWS RDS.
• Strong experience with Azure SQL.
• Experience migrating databases from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.
• Experience migrating databases from Azure SQL environments to AWS.
• Strong understanding of database migration strategies, data synchronization, and validation.
• Experience executing end-to-end database migration projects with minimal downtime.
• Experience assessing existing database environments and designing migration strategies.
• Strong understanding of AWS database services and cloud-based database modernization.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with AWS Platform, database, application, and infrastructure teams.
• Strong communication skills and ability to provide technical guidance throughout migration initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Azure Database services.
• Experience with AWS DataSync.
• Experience supporting large-scale cloud database modernization initiatives.
• Experience working across hybrid on-premises, Azure, and AWS database environments.
