About the Role

As a Senior Data Scientist (Sr. Data Scientist) at Canon U.S.A., you will bridge advanced quantitative analysis with business execution across our business units. A fully qualified, seasoned professional with a full understanding of the job role, working on more complicated issues facing the department. Receives general instruction from manager on new assignments but little to no direction in day-to-day work. Typically reports to a Manager or Senior Manager, and may mentor or supervise one or two less experienced professional staff.

Sitting at the intersection of marketing technology and enterprise analytics, this developing professional role leverages mathematical, statistical, and programming expertise to translate complex datasets into predictive insights and actionable business recommendations. You will play a pivotal role in driving customer growth by building high-performing machine learning models for personalized marketing while maintaining robust data pipelines to ensure seamless executive reporting and business intelligence.

This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.

Your Impact

- Design, train, and deploy statistical and machine learning models (e.g., propensity scoring, next-best-action, customer lifetime value, churn prediction) to power hyper-personalized marketing campaigns and Segment-of-One customer experiences
- Construct forecasting models and algorithms across sales, customer, channel, and product data to optimize campaign yields and customer engagement
- Design and evaluate A/B and multivariate tests to optimize marketing interactions across digital touchpoints and product ecosystems
- Build, automate, and maintain scalable data pipelines to cleanse, integrate, and evaluate large, structured and unstructured datasets from multiple disparate internal and external sources
- Ensure high data integrity and reliability for cross-functional reporting, business intelligence dashboards, and executive decision-making tools.
Acquire, integrate, and extract new data sources when standard feeds are unavailable to enrich customer and market profiles
- Analyze complex business issues using advanced mathematical, statistical, and scientific concepts to construct strategic and tactical recommendations for leadership
- Identify and interpret emerging customer and market trends to generate new business ideas and support product positioning initiatives
- Partner autonomy and sound judgment with general guidance from leadership to translate technical findings into non-technical, high-impact business insights
- Analyzes business problems using data from internal and external sources, scientific methods, and advanced mathematical and statistical concepts and theories to provide insight to decision-makers
- Constructs forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge
- Identifies and interprets trends and generates new business ideas. Able to acquire, integrate and extract new data sources when not available
- Develops and codes software programs, algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources
- May analyze and assess issues affecting product positioning and construct strategic and tactical plans to address them

About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required, plus 5 years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field plus 5+ years of relevant industry experience (or Master's/Ph.D. with 3+ years of experience)
- Statistical and or quantitative background preferred
- Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SAS, or SQL for complex data manipulation, algorithmic modeling, machine learning architecture, and pipeline development
- Demonstrated experience in building, testing, and deploying machine learning models, conducting hypothesis testing, automating data cleansing/integration, and collaborating with IT to deploy custom analytical solutions into production environments
- Proven expertise in designing complex A/B tests, power calculations, and geo-lift/incrementality studies to measure true marketing impact
- Hands-on experience building predictive customer models (LTV, churn, segmentation) and foundational marketing measurement frameworks (attribution or MMM) using advanced SQL and Python
- Proven technical leadership, data architecture and governance knowledge, and the ability to work with autonomy and minimal direction on complex business problems

We are providing the anticipated salary range for this role: $92,210 - $138,080 annually.
