Full Job Description
Overview

As a Senior Data Analyst on the Corporate Intelligence Platform team, you will be the analytic engine and data steward ensuring CIP's outputs are accurate, reliable, and meaningful. This role is all about making our data sing - you will dive deep into enterprise source systems (HR, Finance, project tracking, etc.) to understand and document data, then shape it into trusted analytical datasets and dashboards that drive executive decisions. By painstakingly validating data quality, defining core metrics, and building intuitive dashboard views, you'll transform raw data into insights that Epsilon's leaders rely on. Your work will bridge the gap between data engineering and business teams, ensuring that CIP not only centralizes data but also delivers answers to key business questions with confidence and clarity.

Responsibilities

  • Source Data Mastery: Become the subject-matter expert on CIP's source data. Work with IT and system owners to map out all relevant fields and data flows from our internal systems (e.g., HRIS, financial databases, project management tools) into the CIP environment. Document data definitions, schemas, and business logic, making sure the team and end-users understand the context and limitations of each data source. Identify any data gaps or integrity issues early and recommend solutions or workarounds.
  • Refined Data Products & Metrics: Collaborate with data engineers and the product manager to transform raw data into business-ready "Silver" and "Gold" layer datasets. Validate that data cleansing and transformation rules produce accurate results. Help design dimensional data models and aggregated views that support common analytics needs (for example, workforce cost by product/initiative, project delivery timelines, or revenue by product). Ensure each curated dataset has clear business context, defined metrics, and documentation so that it's immediately useful and trustworthy for analysis.
  • Metrics Definition & Consistency: Define and maintain the catalog of key business metrics and KPIs within CIP. Work with partners in Finance, Product, and Operations to agree on a single definition for critical measures (e.g., "fully-loaded cost", "utilization rate", "bookings vs revenue") and implement these calculations in CIP's data models. Create and manage a semantic layer or metrics repository that ensures all reports and dashboards use consistent formulas. By driving this consistency and clarity, you'll prevent divergent numbers and solidify CIP's reputation as the single source of truth for internal analytics.
  • Data Quality & Validation: Establish rigorous data quality checks to catch issues like missing data, inconsistencies, or anomalies. Regularly reconcile CIP's aggregated results with source system records (e.g., compare CIP's finance totals with official finance system outputs) to ensure everything lines up. Investigate discrepancies to find root causes - whether a pipeline issue, data entry error, or definition mismatch - and work with data engineers to implement fixes. You will also monitor data freshness and reliability, giving partners confidence that CIP's insights are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Analytics & Dashboard Development: Design and deliver insightful analytics and dashboards on top of CIP's datasets. Use your data exploration skills (e.g., advanced SQL in Databricks SQL/GenAI tools) to answer ad-hoc executive questions and to shape the content of dashboards. For example, you might build a dashboard that highlights key product investment metrics or perform analyses to support long-term planning discussions.

Qualifications

  • Analytical Expert: You have 5+ years of experience as a data analyst, business intelligence analyst, or similar role, working with large-scale data sets and complex business metrics. You have a strong track record of turning data into insights used by business teams, and you're excited by the challenge of making sense of diverse internal data.
  • SQL & Data Proficiency: You are a SQL expert - comfortable writing advanced queries to join, aggregate, and analyze data. You have hands-on experience with modern data platforms (Databricks or similar required) and a solid understanding of data warehouse/lake concepts (familiarity with Lakehouse/Delta Lake, medallion architectures). You may have some experience with Python or data visualization tools, and you're always eager to learn new technologies (including using AI tools to accelerate data analysis).
  • Detail-Oriented & Quality-Focused: You are obsessed with data accuracy and consistency. You have experience setting up data quality checks, verifying results against source systems, and ensuring that dashboards are error-free. You understand the importance of data governance, and you naturally document your work so others can trust and build upon it.
  • Metrics & Business Savvy: You understand business metrics and can engage with business partners to refine them. You excel at asking the right questions to ensure a metric truly reflects business reality. Your analytical skills help you connect the dots between data points and business outcomes, so you can support collaborators in interpreting results and finding opportunities or issues.
  • Collaborative & Communicative: You work best in a team environment, closely partnering with data engineers, product managers, and other analysts. You can communicate complex data findings in simple terms, helping non-technical colleagues understand what the numbers mean and why they matter.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance, etc.) or equivalent experience. Professional certifications or training in data analysis/BI (e.g., data analytics certifications) are a plus.
