Overview

Our team is looking for a high-performing Director, Data Engineering who will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and on-going support of a data driven software platform. You enjoy and thrive in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects simultaneously, including both enhancements as well as new project development. The candidate must be a self-starter with a sense of urgency and a commitment to quality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex and ambiguous business requirements and partner with product, analytics, and engineering teams to design scalable data solutions
  • Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL transformations and data pipelines in Snowflake and Databricks using Delta Lake and PySpark
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers to design or modify schema for optimal software performance
  • Advanced database administration and development including stored procedures, user define functions, triggers and ELT/ETL packages using PySpark, SQL, and Python for large-scale data processing, as well as, security and roles
  • Develop advanced Snowflake database objects including: Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions (UDFs), Views, Tasks, Streams, Dynamic Tables
  • Design scalable data models (fact/dimension, star schema, normalized) to support reporting, analytics, and downstream applications.
  • Uphold quality standards and create monitoring tools to ensure high fidelity data
  • Optimization and tuning of existing stored procedures to improve performance
  • Troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement optimal solutions
  • Extract, transform, and load data from multiple data sources using languages and tools such as Python and AWS Glue
  • Design, Build, Test, Debug, Monitor, and Troubleshoot ETL and software processes in Python
  • Recommend solutions to existing or anticipated issues
  • Analyze ambiguous business requirements and partner with product team to provide a strategic solution
  • Have the confidence to work cross-functionally with various departments including business stakeholders and technical personnel to exchange ideas
  • Reviewing and improving existing solutions and collaborating with teams to integrate new solutions
  • Recommend solutions to existing or anticipated issues
  • Serve as an escalation point for any issues that may arise
  • Ability to follow implementation standards, develop documentation and transfer of knowledge

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering with advanced SQL development writing complex queries, CTEs, window functions, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Strong experience with Snowflake as an enterprise data warehouse.
  • Media Agency experience preferred
  • Able to work independently and balance multiple tasks.
  • High competency level in MS Office with specific strengths in Excel (knowledge of VBA a plus) and PowerPoint
  • Adheres to deadlines
  • Advanced SQL programming skills, Redshift preferred (creating views, stored procedures, functions, etc.)
  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake (creating views, stored procedures, functions, etc.)
  • Experience building scalable data pipelines using Databricks and Apache Spark (PySpark).
  • Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and modern lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience integrating REST APIs and third-party data sources.
  • Experience supporting analytics and data science teams.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development workflows.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is preferred, with AWS experience considered a plus rather than a primary requirement.
  • Excellent data modelling skills and experience working with large data sets.
  • Experience with digital media measurement and analytics
  • Experience with machine learning principles and applications a plus
  • Possession of excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
  • Proven experience managing or mentoring a team.

Compensation Range: USD $135,375.00 - USD $216,684.00/Annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
