Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Work is highly independent. Will assume a team lead/mentoring role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters.
- Manages the design, installation, optimization, and enhancement of electronic control systems and instruments to automate and monitor industrial processes.
- Develops technical designs, process diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, and control schematics to implement automation controls.
- Configures systems using PLC and HMI techniques.
- Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions.
- Oversees and coordinates project resources for system start-ups, maintenance and upgrades.
- Ensures that instrument data sheets, wiring designs, drawings, and plans are documented.
- Oversees and schedules PLC technician assignments.
- Responsible for HR responsibilities such as; time card approvals, performance reviews, and expense approvals.
- All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:- Associate degree and/or technical school certification received with industry experience is preferred OR Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred.
- 10+ years' controls engineering experience; material handling or manufacturing experienced preferred.
- Expert-level working knowledge of PLC Programming (Allen Bradley, RSLogix 5000)
- Strong experience with design, inter-connection and configuration of PLCs systems
- Strong experience working with Conveyor and Robotic Systems within material handling or manufacturing environments preferred.
- Strong HMI Development experience preferred.
- Strong working experience and understanding of Electrical Design and Engineering
- Demonstratable experience providing guidance/mentorship to other team members is required.
Working Conditions:- Travel to customer sites 20% annually
- Some weekend/night work required as needed
- Standing and walking for long periods of time
- Occasional climbing on steps, scaffolding and/or mezzanines
- Sitting in and/or driving a vehicle for a long period of time
- Working with computers for a long period of time
- Working in office, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities
- Possible exposure to noise levels exceeding recommended DBA levels
