  • Model, test, and analyze output and data to solve performance issues.
  • Oversee project resources for system start-ups and maintenance upgrades.
  • Document instrument data sheets, wiring designs, drawings, and plans.

Full Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work is highly independent. Will assume a team lead/mentoring role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters.
  • Manages the design, installation, optimization, and enhancement of electronic control systems and instruments to automate and monitor industrial processes.
  • Develops technical designs, process diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, and control schematics to implement automation controls.
  • Configures systems using PLC and HMI techniques.
  • Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions.
  • Oversees and coordinates project resources for system start-ups, maintenance and upgrades.
  • Ensures that instrument data sheets, wiring designs, drawings, and plans are documented.
  • Oversees and schedules PLC technician assignments.
  • Responsible for HR responsibilities such as; time card approvals, performance reviews, and expense approvals.
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
  • Associate degree and/or technical school certification received with industry experience is preferred OR Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years' controls engineering experience; material handling or manufacturing experienced preferred.
  • Expert-level working knowledge of PLC Programming (Allen Bradley, RSLogix 5000)
  • Strong experience with design, inter-connection and configuration of PLCs systems
  • Strong experience working with Conveyor and Robotic Systems within material handling or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong HMI Development experience preferred.
  • Strong working experience and understanding of Electrical Design and Engineering
  • Demonstratable experience providing guidance/mentorship to other team members is required.

Working Conditions:
  • Travel to customer sites 20% annually
  • Some weekend/night work required as needed
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time
  • Occasional climbing on steps, scaffolding and/or mezzanines
  • Sitting in and/or driving a vehicle for a long period of time
  • Working with computers for a long period of time
  • Working in office, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities
  • Possible exposure to noise levels exceeding recommended DBA levels
