About The Role:
CBRE's Investment Accounting & Reporting Solutions group is seeking a Senior Controller to join a collaborative team focused supporting a portfolio of clients. This role is responsible for the oversight of financial reporting requirements of commercial real estate properties prepared by third party property managers. You will review monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages and other client reporting as required which are prepared by your team
What You'll Do:
• Lead, develop, and mentor a high performing team consisting of at least eight people across several clients, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth while building future leadership capability.
• Review and provide final approval of financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with organizational and investor expectations.
• Implement compliance with GAAP, FASB standards, and internal policies, proactively assessing risk and driving consistent application across all reporting activities.
• Provide strategic oversight of the full financial reporting lifecycle for investment entities, ensuring timely delivery, operational excellence, and scalability of processes.
• Lead and direct highly complex financial reviews, including detailed asset level reconciliations, income statement performance analysis, and balance sheet integrity assessments across portfolios.
• Deliver forward looking financial insights and actionable recommendations to executive leadership, asset managers, and key stakeholders to influence investment strategy and performance outcomes.
• Serve as main contact for external audit relationships, managing timelines, and driving resolution of complex audit matters and technical accounting issues.
• Establish and continuously enhance a robust internal control environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while identifying opportunities to strengthen governance and mitigate risk.
• Act as a senior escalation point and trusted advisor for clients, fund teams, asset managers, and auditors on complex financial reporting and accounting matters.
• Partner with senior leadership to deliver strategic financial guidance that supports capital allocation decisions, portfolio optimization, and long term value creation.
• Champion transformation initiatives focused on process optimization, data governance, and reporting automation to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Provide leadership in technology strategy and system implementations, driving adoption of best practices and innovative solutions across the organization.
• Oversee accounting policy interpretation and technical treatment for complex transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, and other events.
• Resolve and respond to escalated issues and requests, including answering questions regarding various accounting issues and reports.
• Partners with the field and Account Management teams to ensure requirements and terms of the client's Management Agreement are adhered to based upon working knowledge of these agreements.
• Coordinate work with other team members within single point-of-contact (SPOC) guidelines.
• Troubleshoot issues to ensure internal and external requests are handled timely, accurately, and with a focus on customer service.
• Provide assistance such as technical guidance to coworkers.
• May coordinate and assign tasks to coworkers within a project.
• Support internal and external audits, providing required documentation and explanations.
• Ensure adherence to CBRE's IA&R standards, SOX compliance (if applicable), and client-specific policies.
• Drive improvements in accounting procedures, reporting automation, and workflow efficiencies.
• Support onboarding of new clients and transition of new scopes of work.

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience required.
• Prior experience in real estate accounting and analytics is required.
• Requires prior supervisory experience and experience with real estate accounting or reporting software systems such as Yardi.
• Ability to inspire and motivate employees and client groups to take desired action. Requires a high level of commitment to customer service, whether co-workers or clients.
• Advanced technical financial skills and comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, FASB standards.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related tools.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner with clients and cross-functional teams.
• Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to perform moderately complex financial calculations such as percentages, fractions, and related numerical analyses.
CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $145,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $165,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
