Senior Computer Programmer (HSS)

 

Bowhead is seeking a Senior Computer Programmer to join our team for our Hawaii Support Services proposal effort in support of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Division Detachment Pacific( NUWCDIVKPT) in Oahu, Hawaii. The Senior Computer Programmer will work directly with the client analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments and data. 

Responsibilities
  • Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions.

  • Analyze complex and unique technical support assignments.

  • Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications.

  • Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software.

  • Create security and data protection settings.

  • Write technical documentation.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and implement network security tools including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services.

  • Answering questions about installation, operation, configuration, and customization.

  • Applying advanced diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes and recommend solutions to correct common failures.

  • Specific support consists of troubleshooting hardware, software, and network related issues encountered by users.

  • Assist with installation of new software releases, system upgrades, evaluation and installation of patches and to resolve software related issues.

  • Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of the organizational mailbox to ensure that all users receive timely support in response to their requests for assistance.

  • Maintain and develop IT related procedures required to support the organization.

  • Maintain data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.

  • Assist in the preparation of a monthly progress and status report.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Desired Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering or information systems with a specialty in programming.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in software systems development and support.
  • Desired five (5) years total experience in modeling and simulation, live/virtual/constructive system integration, synthetic environment applications and information assurance.
  • Required a current Cyber Security Workforce certification at the journeyman level to qualify for a Privileged Access Account.
  • Basic level skills in Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

This is a proposal effort the target rates for the contract are from $54.00 to $72.00 hour depending on the role and commensurate with experience.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Top Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Top Secret clearance at this location.
