Overview

The world's attention is on AI, and behind every breakthrough is physical infrastructure being built at a scale and speed the industry has never seen. Microsoft's Cloud and AI Communications team is looking for a Senior Communications Manager to help tell that story: how we build datacenters, power them responsibly, and earn trust in the communities and markets that host them. This is a high-visibility role at the center of one of the most scrutinized, fast-moving topics in technology. You'll shape narratives across a high-priority portfolio; AI infrastructure, capacity expansion, energy and water sustainability, and external impact, and translate complex technical and business topics into clear, credible, and compelling stories. You'll drive both proactive storytelling and reactive issues management, partnering closely across engineering, marketing, regional communications, corporate, external and legal affairs, and agency teams. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong judgment, and brings the ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining high-quality execution.

Responsibilities
  • Drive communications strategy and execution for Datacenter PR programs, from proactive storytelling and media engagement to rapid response on inbound issues.
  • Develop and lead communications plans across core datacenter topics, including AI infrastructure, energy, water, sustainability, business strategy, and trust and innovation.
  • Lead issues-preparedness and rapid-response efforts on high-profile infrastructure topics involving external scrutiny and regulatory interest.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, marketing, corporate communications, corporate, external and legal affairs, and regional teams to align messaging and deliver integrated programs.
  • Shape a steady cadence of thought leadership, identifying creative opportunities to engage media and influencers.
  • Direct agency partners on media monitoring, research, engagement, and measurement, and ensure messaging consistency across global datacenter markets in partnership with regional leads.
  • Support strategy and execution of Datacenter PR programs, including proactive storytelling, media engagement, and response to inbound issues.
  • Support communications for events, announcements, tours, and executive engagements tied to datacenter infrastructure and related trends.
  • Embody our Culture & Values.
