Full Job Description
Overview

As the Senior Business Planner, you will own the pricing and packaging strategy for M365 for Individuals (B2C), accounting for billions of dollars in annual revenue and tens of millions of paid subscribers globally. As Microsoft introduces transformative AI capabilities, this role sits at the center of shaping how innovative AI features reach customers and how it drives sustainable growth.

If you enjoy solving ambiguous, high-stakes problems; thinking strategically and analytically; and partnering across functions to bring ideas to life, this is a unique opportunity to shape the future of consumer AI monetization at Microsoft.

About the team

Microsoft's Monetization and Business Planning (M+BP) organization is a centralized team responsible for developing the monetization strategies (including of pricing, packaging, licensing, and channel) across a broad portfolio of products under the Microsoft CMO, uniquely positioned to execute and influence strategic initiatives with high executive visibility and direct business impact.

Within the M+BP organization, the M365 for Individuals Business Planning team owns monetization strategy across (but not limited to):
  • M365 subscriptions for individual customers (i.e., Personal, Family, Premium)
  • New consumer AI features across Microsoft AI (MAI) and M365 Copilot
  • Office perpetual products (i.e., Office Home, Office Home & Business)
  • Standalone apps such as Teams and Clipchamp

Typical questions we solve include:
  • What is the right business model for a new AI feature given competitive dynamics, GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) availability, and COGS constraints
  • How should features be tiered across subscriptions to maximize value and growth?
  • What are the most effective ways to grow average revenue per user (ARPU) while delivering clear customer value?

As the Senior Business Planner, you will have the opportunity to influence the product feature tiering roadmap, drive executive decisions, and translate strategy into real product launches and global price changes through deep cross-functional partnership across Product Marketing, Finance, Engineering, and Operations.

  • Develop executive-ready materials, and present proposals to senior leaders, including Microsoft CMO and CVP-level stakeholders, to drive alignment and approvals.
