The Role and Team

We're looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst who thrives on turning data into insights that drive business decisions. This role is a hands-on contributor position with a strong focus on SQL development, Tableau dashboard creation, and data model optimization. You'll work closely with business stakeholders and data engineers to design and deliver analytical solutions that empower teams with trusted, actionable information. This role will focus on supporting customer lifecycle analytics which will include Marketing, Sales, Support, and Services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain SQL queries and views to support reporting and analysis needs.
  • Design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards that provide clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders.
  • Partner with data engineering to ensure data quality, consistency, and performance across data pipelines and reporting layers.
  • Collaborate with business teams (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance) to translate business questions into analytical deliverables.
  • Define and document data models, KPIs, and business logic to create alignment and standardization across reports.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis and provide insights to support strategic initiatives and performance reviews.
  • Drive continuous improvement in BI practices, advocating for data visualization best practices and process efficiency.
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to team standards, governance, and tool optimization.


Candidates based in the Tysons vicinity will be prioritized as this role is Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in SQL (joins, CTEs, window functions, query optimization).
  • Expertise in Tableau (dashboard design, calculations, data blending, performance tuning).
  • Experience working with data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake) and ETL/ELT concepts.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, KPIs, and dimensional design.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business insights.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in SaaS or subscription-based business models.
  • Familiarity with dbt and Python is a plus.
  • Background in data governance, metric standardization, or data quality frameworks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.


Medallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $101,500 - $135,000. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. Medallia considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, candidate's work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
