DescriptionThe Sr. Business Development Manager, Government Systems role is responsible for identifying new opportunities, cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, managing the capture process, and supporting proposal development to secure new contracts. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in government procurement, defense contracting, and developing strategies to win competitive bids.
Job Responsibilities: Identify potential opportunities and pipeline development
Research, identify, and qualify new business opportunities within the Department of Defense (DoD), federal agencies, and defense prime contractors.
Maintain a robust pipeline aligned with company growth targets.
Lead capture strategies for priority pursuits, including competitive analysis, teaming strategies, and pricing approach.
Support proposal development by coordinating with technical, contracts, and program teams to ensure compliant, compelling, and timely submissions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with government program offices, contracting officers, and key industry partners.
Represent the company at defense industry events, trade shows, and networking forums.
Analyze trends in government budgets, acquisition strategies, and technology needs to inform business development plans.
Collaborate with executive leadership to develop growth strategies and long-term market positioning.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Political Science, or related field (master's preferred).
- 5+ years of business development or capture management experience in the government/defense sector.
- Prior military, government, or defense industry experience.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Ability to travel (domestic and internationally) and obtain a passport.
- U.S Citizen
- Demonstrated success in winning government contracts and navigating the federal acquisition process (FAR/DFARS).
- Strong network within DoD, defense agencies, and/or prime contractors.
- Experience with SBIR/STTR, IDIQs, GWACs, or OTA contracts.
- Knowledge of defense technology areas such as aerospace, C5ISR, autonomy, or advanced manufacturing.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Rockville, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $145000.00 - $225000.00/yr.
