What is the opportunity?

Reporting to the Associate Director of Securities Data Services, this position plays a key role in developing and executing upon the Client & Account Data overall strategy and goals within Capital Markets.

As part of wider Client & Account Data function, this role contributes to the success of the team by leading the analysis of business requirements and the subsequent translation into functional specifications as well as writing and executing test scripts to ensure quality of deliverables. It is essential for the analyst to provide reference data expertise and build effective relationships with business units and development teams across RBC.

Supporting our data governance and quality controls, as well as actively participating in business and regulatory initiatives that have a significant impact to the firm and our clients. The role is aimed at developing an operational management of data, focused on improving efficiencies, reducing costs whilst also minimizing risk.

Working collaboratively with CLMG partners, COO Group, Risk, IT and Front office businesses partners throughout the bank, to understand their requirements and relevant business processes in order to deliver change and ultimately improve client service.

What will you do?

Key Responsibilities

Manager within Client & Account Data is responsible for: -

Business as Usual
  • Captures and documents client requirements, presents solutions for approval, and provides requirements to development teams with test cases. Tests solutions in non-production environments and conducts post-production verification.
  • Maintains project documentation to support knowledge transfer and seamless transition to support phases. Identifies root causes of data issues and implements systematic solutions. Provides subject matter expertise to internal clients. Writes queries to support analysis and testing.
  • Works with external data vendors to understand impacts on existing processes. Evaluates new vendors or datasets. Maintains awareness of industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage securities reference data operations and stakeholder engagement.


Relationship Management
  • Collaborates with business partners, IT, and CLMG. Provides regular updates to senior management on metrics, timelines, and project expectations. Identifies process efficiencies and escalates issues promptly to manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Optimizes securities reference data processes to reduce cycle time and manual effort. Integrates multiple functions to a common data source to reduce costs. Maintains data lineage documentation to support operational expansion and system enhancement prioritization.


Change the Bank / Projects
  • Work closely with management and supporting teams, providing input on all initiatives impacting reference data applications and/or expansion of reference data consumption by downstream users to meet ongoing and evolving business, risk, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support delivery of data remediation activities, finding innovative ways to both remediate and implement stronger data quality controls around data environments
  • Develop and oversee data quality reporting and ensure senior management is informed of data quality issues and operational risks that are identified as impactful to downstream processes or the business operations.
  • Maintain documentation outlining data lineage pertaining to all securities related reference data in order to support the expansion of operational capabilities across Capital Markets, aiding in the prioritization of process and system enhancements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on projects.


People Management
  • Build and grow SDS Analyst to be SMEs and support global function.
  • Build and develop your team into subject matter experts by demonstrating strong leadership, coaching, and decision-making in ambiguous situations.
  • Set 2+ goals and 2+ development items per team member by Q2, tracked in Workday Talent Profile.
  • Conduct performance reviews annually and hold career conversations quarterly, focusing on skills development.
  • Provide timely, actionable feedback and coaching, address performance gaps through structured conversations and documented improvement plans.
  • Delegate tasks to reduce direct involvement in BAU activities and create capacity for strategic priorities.
  • Participate in leadership training and professional development. Set clear, ambitious goals aligned to organizational priorities.
  • Develop talent by investing in potential and recognizing high performers.
  • Advocate for your team and facilitate opportunities for growth and retention.
  • Promote a strong risk culture and promptly address misconduct. Empower employees with skills to thrive long-term.


What you need to succeed?

Required Experience & Skills
  • 5-7 years in Business Analysis, Data Analysis, or a related role within financial services.
  • Experience working in a data-intensive environment with exposure to multiple source systems and complex data flows.
  • Excellent Communication skills, Strong PC skills, particularly Microsoft office, ability to work in fast paced environment with frequent distractions and changing priorities, High standards for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Demonstrates initiative and seeks to solve problems beyond immediate area of influence
  • Ability to maintain strong attention to detail and meet deadlines in high-pressure situations
  • Facilitates cross-department information flow and best practice sharing
